A Letter to Aubrey Regarding Sex, Lies, and the Watchtower [Kindle Edition]

This is primarily a letter to my daughter exposing the lies of the Watchtower Bible & Tract Society. That Society claims to be especially anointed and chosen by God to hold sway over all those trying to live Christian lives. As such, they claim that they are endowed with the right by God to make up rules that are not in the Bible which, nevertheless, MUST be obeyed by Christians. I was raised in that religion and was indoctrinated accordingly. This book explains and recounts the experiences that took place in my life as one of Jehovah's Witnesses that caused me to question, then investigate, and finally remove myself from that organization. It is an accurate account of the issues that led to my doubts about the Watchtower Society acting as spokesman for the so-called "faithful and discreet slave." It recounts my personal struggle with those issues and how this eventually led me into a confrontation with the Society which ended in my disassociation from them. With the resulting consequence that I have been estranged from my daughter for the past twenty or so years. She does not know me and she does not know what those issues were. No one has known for thirty years. I promised my daughter, Aubrey, when she was five years old that when she was an adult that I would answer all her questions. This book is an attempt to make good on that promise. Hopefully, it will answer her questions. At the same time, it is my hope that it will expose the high-handed and unjust manner in which I was treated by the Watchtower Society and reveal to all just exactly what the issues were that led to my disassociation from them and what actually led to my divorcing my wife. And give everyone an opportunity to have a complete and comprehensive understanding of those events so they can render a fair and balanced judgment on the matter. A cautionary word though. This book deals with the sexual practices of married persons. If a discussion of such matters would be offensive to the reader then I suggest you do not read this book. These matters are dealt with in some detail and I do not want to shock or offend anyone. But, if you are a mature adult and such matters would not be offensive to you, then by all means, read on. If you are one of Jehovah's Witnesses, you need to know that the regulations of the Society in this area are totally without scriptural foundation and this is clearly documented in this book. If you are not a Witness, you may find it both interesting and instructive to see how severely the Watchtower Society seeks to control the thinking of its members.
Regardless of your situation, if you do choose to read this book, and should you happen to bump into Aubrey, who I am quite certain will never read this book despite the fact that it is written solely for her benefit, I would appreciate it if you would pass along to her that I love her, regardless…and that I always will. I know what it is to be trapped in a religion and I have nothing but empathy for her and for all Witnesses.
