For children to really succeed in the KS2 SATs, they need confidence in their own ability and they need to be able to talk about their work with adults. Many adults are a little nervous about teaching their children 'the wrong way' in maths because they have heard that the subject is taught differently today.
The Primary Maths Is Not A Mystery series is a set of books that show adults how maths is taught, giving the adult a chance to discuss confidently and work with their child. The work progresses in gentle steps and their is lots of opportunity to practice and to see in detail how the answers to questions have been worked out.
In this book we look at Percentages. We look at how to convert fractions (such as test scores) into percentages so that we can compare results from different sized tests. Then we lean how to find percentages of an amount and finally move on to learn how to calculate a percentage change, for example in a price.
There is a further Primary Maths Is Not A Mystery book that covers Fractions, Decimals and Percentages, showing the relationship between all three topics.
