Rafael Lovato Jr's – Seal the Deal

Overview
I personally really enjoyed this instructional series and found it extremely useful in my training mostly because it is from the point of view of a world class practitioner that loves to play the top game. At the current academy I train at, my instructor mostly enjoys guard techniques so naturally he teaches what he has found most success in.
In this series however, we learn from Lovato many techniques that he has used at the top levels to finish world class competitors. This includes some pretty big names (e.g. Kayron Gracie via Kimura at Metamoris Pro 1 etc). And he covers a range of variations and options for each technique which provides great depth as well as increased effectiveness especially in transitions or when opponents are defending well.
For each of the submissions and position mentioned above, Lovato holds nothing back and leaves no stone unturned. You will not need more subsequent instruction for many of the techniques taught. And for the price of an average monthly membership. it almost becomes a no brainer in terms of the value you get from the series.

So Who Is Rafael Lovato Jr?
Rafael Lovato Jr is an extremely successful black belt world champion in both Gi and No-Gi competition. Lovato is actually the second American ever to win the Brazilian National Jiu-Jitsu Championship as a black belt with BJ Penn being the first. He also has a long running relationship with the Ribero brothers who actually gave him his black belt. Along with being a multiple time world champion (2007, 2008, 2010, 2011) Lovato also runs an academy in Okahoma City, Oklahoma where he enjoys a very successful life as a competitor.

Production
Much like the recent high quality productions, this series is raising the bar for production quality when it comes to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu instructionals. The camera is consistently still with very little movement, and Lovato shows multiple angles to all of the techniques he demonstrates. The sound quality is usually on a high level and there are no issue. Though in the Kimura Series, there were a couple videos that had a high pitched ringing (this may have been my computer or headphones, you will have to try yourself) but this did not interfere with the techniques or Lovato’s instructions which you can still clearly hear. But we thought we mention that just in case there are perfectionists out there when it comes to wanting HD quality all the time.
Overall I would give the production quality a B+ to possibly an A-, but we all know that what makes a series great is the techniques and instructions and not the production of the set.
