Jacques Vallee brings a cooly logical mind to bear on the question of Ufo. phenomena. He approaches the problem from a psycho-sociological standpoint, examining the effects Ufo mythology has on the mass psychology of society, postulating at the end of the book that Ufo lore could form the basis of a new religion. However, M. Vallee is resolutely pragmatic and does not deny that Ufos have a physical nuts and bolts existence, but he does not believe that the craft he mentions come from the stars, their occupants he states are more likely to be tellurian. Like Jung, M. Vallee concieves of Ufos as "signs in the sky" and he believes that the phenomena cannot be conceptualised without reference to human consciousness.
