West Africa is a place worth exploring and experiencing for yourself. The region consists of 17 countries and is a hotspot for culture, music, food, religion, art, sports, and business. And while the history of the region is colored by colonialism and the legacy of slavery, West Africans are rewriting the destiny of their respective countries, and the area more broadly. What has emerged in the new century is a new kind of West Africa—a West Africa by and for its people—a place of authenticity, vibrance, resilience, and heart.

In Discovering West Africa: Ghana, Senegal, Cameroon, you will take a 10-episode tour across three West African countries. Nathan Fluellen, known as “World Wide Nate,” will be your expert guide. A traveling documentarian, avid adventurer, and seasoned global citizen who has traveled across Africa to discover his own roots, he is well-equipped to guide you through new and unfamiliar terrains. Moving through the nations of Ghana, Senegal, and Cameroon, you will join Nate and a mix of local artists, chefs, musicians, entrepreneurs, sportsmen, and other locals.

You will not just see West Africa, you will experience what it has to offer, while you immerse yourself in the everyday aspects of the region as if you were there in person, collecting and cooking its most traditional dishes; playing its cherished and ancient sports; and studying its history and culture through natural landscapes, small museums, elaborate monuments, vibrant naming ceremonies, spoken word poems, and local art. The people of West Africa tell their stories through the lives they live, the farms they tend to, the textiles they make, the art they create, and the stories they have chosen to elevate. And as you accompany Nate on this West African adventure, the extraordinary citizens of West Africa will guide and teach you about the places they call home.
