While it's no secret that guitar king Peter Green is obsessed with Robert Johnson, having done two previous recordings of his music, this box is in essence something else. There are three CDs included here, one of which is Hot Foot Powder, the first album by the Peter Green Splinter Group, which included guest performances from the likes of Otis Rush, Honeyboy Edwards, Dr. John, Hubert Sumlin, and Joe Louis Walker, among others. The second disc by the band, The Robert Johnson Songbook, featured mainly the Green band, though Free/Bad Company vocalist Paul Rodgers guests on a tune. Fans already have these without a doubt, so Snapper Music - with Green's blessing - assembled a 28-cut collection of original Robert Johnson recordings chosen by Green. Adding them all together in a box with a handsome booklet for a decent price makes it all worthwhile…

Peter Green was a soulful beacon in the world of blues rock. Revered for his profound influence and extraordinary guitar mastery. As the founder of Fleetwood Mac, Green played a pivotal role in revolutionising the British blues scene of the late 1960s. His emotive playing, distinguished by a singular tone and soulful nuance, elevated him above his peers. Green's guitar work, deeply entrenched in traditional blues yet brimming with innovation, propelled the genre forward through his expressive bends, evocative vibrato, and melodic sensitivity. Green's remarkable ability to convey profound emotion through his music has left an indelible mark on countless guitarists and musicians. Iconic tracks like "Albatross" and "Black Magic Woman" exemplify his talent for crafting atmospheric, mood-laden pieces that defy conventional blues structures. His compositions, characterised by a fusion of simplicity and profound emotional resonance, illustrate that technical mastery can coexist with deep artistic expression.

A massive, 2-disc compilation featuring cover versions of virtually every Peter Green song written during his Fleetwood Mac period, and a few drawn from his mid-80s solo period. While there are some weaker moments in this 39-track collection, the majority of the interpretations feature blues guitar, piano and vocal at their very best. Rather than simply pay tribute to Peter Green by faithfully imitating his material, the artists have chosen to re-interpret these songs and in most cases the results are superb. The power of Green's influence is felt all the more deeply when so many artists use his music as a jumping-off point. A must have item for blues guitar fans.

Recorded in London in January 1968 with three members of the early lineup of Fleetwood Mac (the one that played blues, not pop/rock): Peter Green (guitar), John McVie (bass), and Mick Fleetwood (drums). It's an adequate setting for Boyd's straight Chicago piano blues, going heavier on the slow-to-mid-tempo numbers than the high-spirited ones, though Green is a far more sympathetic accompanist than the rhythm section.

When Peter Green issued Little Dreamer in 1980, it was the second straight year he had released an album after a nine-year gap. Fairport Convention drummer Dave Mattacks must have wondered what he had gotten himself into because the opener, "Loser Two Times," ais almost as close to disco as the Rolling Stones got with "Miss You." Green continues in a funky vein with "Mama Don't You Cry," as if shaking off the cobwebs and actually trying to pay attention to the current scene. He goes right back to his roots on the album's third tune with "Born Under a Bad Sign" and stays with blues derivatives the rest of the way. The album-ending title track sounds like a seven-minute version of the dreamy Green tune "Albatross," a hit for Fleetwood Mac in the '60s. Sounding more confident than on his comeback album, he seems more like the Greeny of old, although the move toward funk didn't really suit him.

British blues-rock guitarist Peter Green first achieved recognition with John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers, in which he replaced Eric Clapton. Green founded Fleetwood Mac in 1967. As that band's first leader, he wrote classic songs including "Black Magic Woman," "Oh Well," "The Green Manalishi" and "Albatross." Green succumbed to drug and mental health issues at the height of Fleetwood Mac's early popularity and left the band in May 1970. Despite continuing health challenges, Peter Green reemerged as a solo artist in the late '70s. Comeback album In The Skies was Green's first record after 8 years in obscurity. Surrounded with longtime friends including Peter Bardens (Camel) and Snowy White, Green cut a mix of vocal numbers and instrumentals, composed songs and jams. The music of In The Skies casts a captivating, spellbinding mood. Often acclaimed as Peter Green's best solo album, In The Skies returns to CD remastered by Vic Anesini and presented with bonus tracks for the first time.

Splinter Group/Destiny Road is a remarkably good value for anyone interested in the comeback of Peter Green. Combining the self-titled debut of the Splinter Group along with Destiny Road, this two-fer offers a good snapshot of the man's return. He's not the guitar god he once was, which is only to be expected, really. And the band never sounds as inspired as old Fleetwood Mac. But Splinter Group is very serviceable, with both "Homework" and "The Stumble" comparing favorably against the originals – although it's not always easy to tell which guitar is Green and which is cohort Nigel Watson. Destiny Road, from 1999, showcases a more cohesive unit, and a more relaxed Green. His guitar work still doesn't have the sharpness, nor the unexpected turns of yore, but it's still very pleasant, especially "Madison Blues" and "Hiding in Shadows." In many ways the mere fact that Green was back recording is reward enough. And this time he doesn't sound as tortured by the blues as he was in his heyday.

A Case for the Blues is a blues album by Katmandu, a British band made up of successful musicians from differing musical backgrounds, including Peter Green of Fleetwood Mac, Ray Dorset of Mungo Jerry and Vincent Crane of Atomic Rooster. Released in 1985, this was the only album by the band. A Case for the Blues has been re-released several times, sometimes as a Peter Green solo album, such as the 1987 release on the Original Masters label. Other releases credit the album to Peter Green and Friends.

Some Peter Green fans might be put off by this 64-song/four-CD collection, owing to the fact that they are likely to already own a significant chunk of what's here (especially the Fleetwood Mac material). (And in fairness, there apparently isn't a lot of – or any – unreleased material to draw on from Green's classic period with the band). But this reviewer had to spring for this four-and-a-half hour showcase of his work, and for one major reason – vitality. Green's virtuosity is a given, and his taste and his insights into blues and what can be done with it – while still leaving it as blues – are well known to anyone who's heard his work.

His reputation spread to the United States where he gained great popularity. His music combines a modern style with blues roots and a rocky funk soul character. Some consider him one of the best blues musicians in the world. His current double CD "Me, My Music And My Life" shows his impressive work in celebration of his 40 years in show business. In addition to his best works he also recorded some Italian songs as a bonus.

In the Skies is an album by British blues rock musician Peter Green, who was the founder of Fleetwood Mac and a member from 1967–70. Released in 1979, this was his second solo album and the first after eight years of obscurity. Accompanying Green on this album were several experienced session musicians, including Snowy White, who went on to work with Pink Floyd before joining Thin Lizzy. White contributed some of the lead guitar work on the album since Green was not yet fully comfortable with his return to recording after his long break. Also present was Green's colleague and friend from his earliest bands, Peter Bardens. All tracks were written by Peter Green, with some of the lyrics written by Green's then wife Jane.

This release combines two studio albums from the Peter Green Splinter Group 'Time Traders' from 2001 and 'Reaching The Cold 100' from 2003. Peter Green's status as a blues guitarist is second to none. With first John Mayall's Bluesbreakers and then Fleetwood Mac, he created an extraordinary body of work which established his reputation. Time Traders and Reaching The Cold 100 were the last studio recordings by the Peter Green Splinter Group, which operated from 1997 to 2004 and in contrast to their earlier albums they feature entirely original compositions by members of the group. These are two great albums worthy of inclusion in any fan's collection.
