Rising Down is the eighth studio album by Philadelphia-based hip-hop band The Roots, set to be released on Def Jam on April 29, 2008. It is the band's second album with the label, following 2006's Game Theory. The album's title presumably comes from William T. Vollmann's 2004 book Rising Up and Rising Down: Some Thoughts on violence, freedom and urgent means.

Roni Size is to release a new version of his classic 1997 album New Forms next month, featuring extra songs and "re-edits". Imaginatively named New Forms 2, the new version holds seventeen songs and will be released on April 7th - a week after single Don't Hold Back is delivered.

Indie-pop duo THE SUBMARINES will release HONEYSUCKLE WEEKS, the follow up to their 2006 debut Declare A New State!, on May 13, 2008 through Nettwerk Music Group. The band will perform new material as part of NPR affiliate KUT's SXSW showcase on Friday, March 14.

After Joe Gibbs African Dub All-mighty 1, 2, 3 and 4, 17 North Parade comes with Teach The Youth, a new compilation of Barrington Levy’s songs recorded between 1980 and 1985 in Joe Gibbs’ studio. A 12 tracks set with special guests Lui Lepke, Ranking Trevor Kojak and Liza. In stores on 29th of April.

A sweet set of funky instrumentals from the Funky Muchachos – a combo who usually record under the guise of Tito Lopez, and who have a classic soul jazz approach to their groove! The core trio features drums, bass, and either organ or electric piano, depending on the track – and some cuts add in a bit of guest instrumentation on flute or guitar to round out the sound slightly. The keyboards are great – often quite stark and spare, with as much rhythmic focus as the other players in the group – and the electric piano tracks are especially nice, with a groove that's warm, but never too smooth or slick. Titles include versions of "What's Goin On", "The World Is A Ghetto", "Boogie On Reggae Woman", "Spooky", and "Let's Stay Together" – plus "I'm Comin Home", "Don't Take It Out", and "Donna's Way".

On the heels of two highly-acclaimed duet recordings with bassist Daniel Yvinec (the latter recently named to head France's National Jazz Orchestra), pianist Guillaume de Chassy last year released a remarkable Piano solo (Bee Jazz, 2007).
