This CD commemorates Willie Nelson's 70th Birthday (April 30, 2003).

The catalog of Willie Nelson is so vast and rich that assembling an "essential" collection of only one or two discs seems nearly impossible. RCA's single-disc 1995 attempt was admirable and worthy, but doomed by space limitations. With a bit more room to move, Legacy's roomier two-disc collection is about close as anyone could hope to come. We get the full view of the great singer/songwriter's artistic journey.

"Hello Walls" and the evergreen "Crazy" hail from the days when Nelson was tooling around Nashville as a songwriter for hire but mystifyingly unable to connect as a solo artist. His transformation into a counterculture icon via the '70s "outlaw country" movement is marked by the likes of "Me and Paul" and "Bloody Mary Morning." His tremendous skill as in interpreter can be heard in such standards as "Blue Skies" and "Georgia on Mind," which helped make him a crossover success in the STARDUST era. Latter-day collaborations with everyone from Aerosmith ("One Time Too Many") to U2 ("Slow Dancing") show Willie's mercurial, eclectic nature. Add it all up and a portrait comes together of a man whose artistic vision has carried him across decades and stylistic shifts aplenty and seen him through in style.

Recorded between 1961 & 2002.

Subscribing to the time-honored practice of striking when the iron is hot, the Jonas Brothers put out Lines, Vines and Trying Times in June of 2009, making it their third album in one year. True, Lines and A Little Bit Longer were separated by a soundtrack to a concert film, but the flood of product is a true reflection of the peak of the group's popularity, just as how the over-produced, stretched-thin Lines is a reflection of their hectic schedule. Where A Little Bit Longer was built on a strong song foundation, Lines, Vines and Trying Times feels constructed from the outside in, with the concepts coming before the tunes, concepts that all take the Brothers Jonas further away from the fizzy, power pop fun. Lines is designed to showcase a mature Jonas Brothers, who wear their maturation in an increased stylistic range, and fussed-over arrangements that lend this a stiffness of a band well beyond their years. Pop classicists that they are, the Jonases are a bit more comfortable with immaculate arrangements than they are with the expansion, as they fumble through a couple of country songs and "Don't Charge Me for the Crime," a truly bizarre duet with Common where they gamely, lamely affect a hard-boiled pose. Tellingly, most of the forced moments were written in collaboration with outsiders such as Cathy Dennis and Greg Garbowsky, the latter being responsible for co-writing "Poison Ivy," a power pop tune so labored it reveals just how good A Little Bit Longer was. Overthinking and over-production are the primary flaws on Lines, where every point is hammered home by horns transported from the waning days of the Reagan administration. This oddly yuppified production is more Taylor Hicks than Taylor Swift, but the presence of Joe's former girlfriend is felt elsewhere, whether it's in the lyric's heartbroken love songs (as well as a couple of rocking accusations), or how Miley Cyrus stands in for Taylor on one of those country songs. But Swift also comes to mind because she and the Jonas Brothers are trying to do a similar thing: make teen pop that skews adult in its sound and form. The JoBros did it effortlessly on A Little Bit Longer but on Lines, Vines and Trying Times the seams are showing, which makes it a little bit harder to enjoy, even if there are certainly moments where all their craft and charm click, resulting in some fine pop that points out what's missing from the rest of the record.

Based on Stephenie Meyer's #1 New York Times Bestseller of the same name, TWILIGHT explores the complex intertwining of teenage romance and the dark world of vampires. Chop Shop Records compiled this soundtrack with songs that accentuate the film's already ethereal atmosphere. Featuring two brand-new songs by Paramore (including the single "Decode") and one new track by Perry Farrell, TWILIGHT is just as much an adventure as the film. Also included are songs by Muse, Linkin Park, and a contribution by one of the film's stars, Rob Pattinson, who portrays the character Edward Cullen.

Nearly a decade on from the height of the Corrs' success, lead vocalist Andrea finally releases her debut solo album, albeit perhaps too late for anyone to really take notice – which is a shame, as the majority of Ten Feet High eschews the over-produced MOR that has dogged her group's recent output, and instead offers a collection of eclectic pop songs that are both lyrically and musically inventive. Opener "Hello Boys" sets the precedent as Andrea seductively purrs her way through a Goldfrapp-esque electro-pop stomper, complete with dirty bassline and electric guitar solo. It's a statement of intent you couldn't possibly have predicted, but it's far from the only time she strays from her comfort zone. First single "Shame on You," an antiwar protest based on Sebastian Faulks' Birdsong, is given an ethereal tinge by Nellee Hooper's understated production, while "Champagne Through a Straw" is a satirical tirade against the culture of celebrity, dressed up as calypso-style breezy summer pop. The album does occasionally misfire. "Take Me I'm Yours" is a rather pointless retread of the Squeeze classic, the simple lullaby melody of "I Do" is perhaps a bit too cloying, and occasionally she sounds rather disinterested, interestingly more so on the less experimental tracks that could have easily fit on Talk on Corners. Ultimately, Ten Feet High is perhaps too left-field for Corrs fans and not left-field enough to attract new converts, but it's a bold and sometimes brave record that promises an interesting solo career ahead.

Cuban born Jon Secada is a very talented artist. There are two big tracks on the CD. These are "Just Another Day" and "Otro Dia Mas Sin Verte", which are basically the same song, except one is sung in English and the other in Spanish. No matter what language in which it is sung, it is a beautiful song. Unfortunately, the rest of the music does not meet the standard set by these two tracks. While solid, the rest of the tracks are nothing all that special. Still, it is a good, solid debut album.

An Evening with Belafonte/Makeba is a Grammy Award-winning 1965 album by Harry Belafonte and Miriam Makeba. It was the second outcome of the long lasting collaboration between Belafonte and Makeba, the first being the appearance of Makeba in the song Just One More Dance on Belafonte's 1960 album, Belafonte Returns to Carnegie Hall.

Despite the title, just two of the tracks in this album are actually duets, while all the others are either sang by Belafonte or Makeba alone.

In the mid 1960s, Belafonte was very active in supporting emerging African artists as well as making African music known worldwide, and this album is an example of this activity. It includes classical African songs like Malaika (with the english title My Angel) as well as songs in African languages such as Zulu, Sotho and Swahili. –Wikipedia

Dil Padosi Hai is a 1987, private Indian music album by Music director R. D. Burman. The songs of the album were penned by Gulzar. All the songs in the album are sung by virtuoso singer, Asha Bhosle.

This album reflects the genius of three music personalities coming together to give the best in their province. The album comprises 12 songs originally (two bonus traks were added in it's later versions). The songs are melodious with fresh and hummable tunes infused with poetry of Gulzar, which touches the soul. This music album, once told by Asha Bhosle, is the best album of her life and remains very close to her heart.

This great album can well be found over he internet in crappy lossy formats. I personally always intended to release it in a lossless version for my audiophile friends.

There's some problem in it's pressing, what I encountered while grabbing it. The suspicious position may well be found in it's log. But I can assure you, that's not going to ruin your audiophile ears anyway. Since this album is a original 12 track version, now it's extremely hard to find another pressing of it. The versions currently available are all 12 + 2 bonaus track pressings. So I barely could do anything.

It's a great album. Enjoy listening !

Mother's Milk is the fourth studio album by American alternative rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers, released on August 29, 1989 on EMI. After the death of guitarist Hillel Slovak and subsequent departure of drummer Jack Irons, vocalist Anthony Kiedis and bassist Flea regrouped with the addition of guitarist John Frusciante and drummer Chad Smith. Frusciante significantly altered the band's sound by placing more emphasis on melody than rhythm, which had dominated the band's previous material. Returning producer Michael Beinhorn favored heavy metal guitar riffs as well as excessive overdubbing, and as a result Beinhorn and Frusciante constantly fought over the album's guitar sound.

The record was a greater commercial success than the Chili Peppers' past three studio albums combined. Mother's Milk peaked at number 52 on the Billboard 200 and received widespread recognition for singles "Knock Me Down" and the Stevie Wonder cover "Higher Ground". The album became their first gold record in early 1990, and was the first step for the band in achieving international success. Although the record was not met with the same positive critical reception that its predecessor The Uplift Mofo Party Plan (1987) had garnered, Mother's Milk, according to Amy Hanson of Allmusic, "turned the tide and transformed the band from underground funk-rocking rappers to mainstream bad boys with seemingly very little effort".

The great irony with this release is that it was perhaps the most innovative and interesting on the Shrapnel label, yet received little attention until years later. Yngwie Malmsteen's influence on young guitarists produced an endless supply of technically competent, but largely uninspired, effigies. Mark Varney signed the German guitarist/composer Bernd Steidl, who had been studying at the Guitar Institute of Technology (GIT) in California, after hearing a demo tape. Released without much press or fanfare, the recording was only mildly successful within the guitar-shred community. Perhaps the reason for this was that the core American audience, primarily young, heavy metal-influenced guitar students, were not ready for the level of sophistication presented in this acoustic format. In fact, the music on this recording bears little to no resemblance to the guitar shredders that Steidl was unfairly being compared to (i.e.Tony Macalpine, Vinnie Moore, Greg Howe). Formally trained on classical music in Germany, but also influenced by the likes of Al Di Meola and Django Reinhardt, Steidl amassed a prodigious combination of guitar technique and compositional skills. The listener is thus treated not only to staggering displays of guitar gymnastics, but also to distinctive, diverse, and memorable compositions that add up to a cohesive musical listening experience. As the years went by and the spread of MP3s became the dominant form of music acquisition, word quickly spread about this recording, and a cult classic was firmly established. There are a number of standout tracks here, with the jaw-dropping "Irrlichter" and haunting "Cobra Negra" being the most memorable. The supporting musicians are careful not to overplay and make a valuable contribution, especially the eerie choral vocals of Dioni Michelle Collins. With Psycho Acoustic Overture, Bernd Steidl managed to outplay and outclass his contemporaries, and although it took nearly a decade, the musical community finally realized this player's special talent. ~ Robert Taylor, All Music Guide

With their beautiful harmony vocals and gentle melodies, Peter, Paul & Mary were the most popular folk act of the 1960s. While Bob Dylan was unquestionably the genre's most influential and revered performer by the mid-1960s, it was Peter Yarrow, Noel Paul Stookey, and Mary Travers who helped him to reach a larger audience with their accessible '63 renditions of his "Blowin' in the Wind" and "Don't Think Twice, It's All Right." In addition to Dylan, the group also championed the work of Gordon Lightfoot and John Denver, most notably with the wanderlust tales "For Lovin' Me" and "Leaving on a Jet Plane" (a runaway hit in '69), respectively.

All of the aforementioned tunes are presented on THE VERY BEST OF PETER, PAUL & MARY, a 25-track set carefully compiled by the trio itself. This 2005 collection focuses almost exclusively on the '60s and '70s work of PP&M, with the exception of the deceptively breezy "El Salvador" (from '86) and 2003's "Don't Laugh at Me," which finds the threesome in fine voice more than 40 years after the group was founded in New York City's Greenwich Village. Also included are three early-'70s solo tracks–one apiece by Yarrow, Stookey, and Travers–rounding out this wonderfully selected disc, which is a must for any folk collection.

Peter, Paul & Mary: Noel "Paul" Stookey, Peter Yarrow (vocals, acoustic guitar); Mary Travers (vocals).

Recording information: 1962 - 2003.Dirty Linen (p.85) - "It's fun to see the group really lay its politics on the line in 'El Salvador,' and 'Weave Me the Sunshine' is as vibrant as anything Peter, Paul, and Mary ever recorded."

… during six decades, Cliff Richard has charted many singles, and holds the record (with Elvis Presley) as the only act to make the UK singles charts in all of its decades (1950s–2000s). He is the only singer to have had a number one single in the UK in five consecutive decades between the 1950s and the 1990s. If he can chart a single at number one in 2009 he will continue this record to six decades. On the British charts, Richard has had more than 130 singles, albums and EPs make the top 20, more than any other artist. He has sold more than 260 million records.
