    Genre: Documentary

Alaska is known for its great beauty and inspirational landscapes. However, it is equally as notorious for its rugged terrain, brutal winters and remote locations. Still, like everywhere, life goes on in Alaska throughout the dead of winter. Everyday tasks often become extraordinary challenges. But, with the help of colossal equipment and machines, residents are able to not only endure, but thrive and enjoy among the sub-zero temperatures, steep mountainous terrain and fragile–sometimes deadly–ice. New Science Channel series Alaska Mega Machines examines the science behind how these machines are engineered for survival in the last frontier.

Part 1: Beasts of the Arctic
A rugged ship built to withstand tsunami size wave’s travels on a highway unlike any other in North America. A fleet of machines combats a massive flood in the Arctic Circle. And the biggest, most powerful wind turbines in Alaska.

Part 2: The Yeti Strikes Back
The Yeti, a machine with 588 sharp teeth, helps keep the coldest airport in America running. Mighty tugboats chew through ice chunks in the busiest port in Alaska. And soldiers become Arctic Warriors in the coldest army post in the country.

Part 3: Gargantuan off the Grid
On the remote island of Sitka, Alaskan engineers construct a gargantuan dam to power the entire town. Ride shotgun on a dangerous mission on the world's largest helicopters. And, Alaska's biggest boat lift hauls a 400-ton fishing ship in high winds.

    Part 4: Bering Sea Giants
Alaska's Coast Guard fights the most dangerous waters in the state to maintain buoys standing three stories tall. Explosive machinery yields big rewards 800 feet below Alaska's surface. An army of Alaskans build a steel ferry…several tons at a time.

Part 5: Warriors in the Last Frontier
A barge like you've never seen carries an entire train along Alaska's high seas. A mega fish factory on a remote island churns out 3 million pounds of seafood a day. A flying ambulance saves lives at 14,000 feet above Alaska's wilderness.

Part 6: Behemoths of the Bush
Only in Alaska can you find an airport made from nothing but water and ice. Hardy vehicles brave the arctic to travel across the tundra. And next to a field of moose, 16 missiles stand by to prevent a nuclear disaster.
