Eine Autowerkstatt auf Long Island. Der Besitzer ist Fred Kruger (hat „Nightmare on Elm Street“-Regisseur Wes Craven den bösen Freddy Krueger etwa nach ihm benannt?). Hinter der Fassade der Autowerkstätte wuchert das Verbrechen: mit Hilfe des Mechanikers Terry gelingt es Kruger, 100.000 $ aus einem Safe zu stehlen. In dem Safe befindet sich auch eine Kapsel mit Kobalt 60. Die Gangster werden durch den Kontakt mit dem radioaktiven Material verseucht.
Als sich einer der Komplizen stellen will, um ärztlich behandelt zu werden, bricht ein tödlicher Kampf aus…

Fred, Al and Terry are three ex-convicts who are gainfully employed as garage mechanics. One day, they decide to break into a payroll office. They are unable to open the safe, so they take it to their garage. Unfortunately, the safe contains not only money, but also a lethal radioactive isotope which, if released, could wreak havoc on the city.
