"Fight Quest" is a great series that showcase various martial arts of the world. I have not even heard of some of them before watching this series! In the series, hosts Jimmy Smith and Doug Anderson travel from country to country studying a different martial art in each location. Jimmy Smith is an LA-based mixed martial arts fighter while Doug Anderson is a 25-year-old Iraqi War veteran. "They travel the world in their quest of a good fight."Each episode profiles a martial art which is unique to that country and its culture. Countries included are China, the Philippines, Japan, Mexico, Indonesia, France, South Korea, Brazil, Israel, Thailand, India and Hong Kong. The martial arts vary from stick-fighting in the Philippines to full-contact Karate in Japan. The episodes give the viewer a good idea of that particular martial art and its history.
Jimmy and Doug immersed themselves in the local culture but they train separately under the tutelage of a master. This allows them to study different branches of the martial art. One would stay in the city while the other would train in a remote location. After a week of intense training, Jimmy and Doug will face-off against a local master in a no-holds-barred test of skill.
"Fight Quest" blends educational, cultural and travel programming with the hard-edged thrill of actual fights. The fighting is real and so are the results. Join them in their culturally immersive quest to experience some of the world's toughest fighting forms and you, the viewer also get to watch a lot of intense hardcore training required.
