Story of two children, a boy and a girl, who are each abandoned by their parents and left alone on a mountainside. The boy is found and adopted by a goatherd, Lamon who names him "Dafnis". The girl is found and taken in by a shepherd, Dryas who names her "Khloya". They both live in the same village, and grow up to be attractive adolescents. One day, Dafnis sees Khloya swimming naked in the sea and becomes physically attracted to her. They soon fall in love, but their families object to their romance, and forbid them to see each other. Dafnis becomes so despondent, he decides to jump off a cliff and kill himself. As he lies injured on the ground, Khloya comes to Dafnis in a vision and saves him. Dafnis is now more determined than ever to reunite with Khloya, but first he will have to fight off an unwanted male suitor, and save Khloya from a violent brute who's determined to have her for himself.MS18pp
