Vincent is a secretary of state, a powerful man, not bad looking, rather elegant, who likes his food and wine. Odile, his mistress, a very beautiful young woman, is intelligent, clear-headed, charming.
Don’t hitch your fate to young women who are too beautiful, my friends: it can cost you dearly. As soon as Vincent is thrown out of his job, Odile ditches him.
Theodiere, the new secretary, takes over Vincent’s sumptuous office. He changes everything: the shelves, furnishing fabrics, the desk, chairs, even the telephone and the ashtrays. Will it last long? Who knows. He’s optimistic.
Meanwhile, Vincent, the former secretary, starts living at last…
And if, at the end of our story, Vincent crosses paths with Theodiere, his rival and successor, now also in disgrace, it will be without hatred or perverse joy that he’ll say: “You look tired… Hey, have a drink!”

Vincent est ministre, homme puissant, pas trop laid, plutot elegant, buveur, mangeur, bon vivant. Odile, sa maitresse, une tres belle fille, est intelligente, lucide, charmante.
Ne liez pas votre destin a de trop belles filles mes amis : ca peut vous couter cher. Des que Vincent est chasse de son poste, elle le plaque.
Theodiere, le nouveau ministre, investit le somptueux bureau de Vincent. Il casse tout : il change les etageres, le tissu d'ameublement, le bureau, les fauteuils, jusqu'aux cendriers et aux telephones. Pour longtemps, qui sait ? Il est optimiste.
Par contre, l'ex ministre Vincent commence a vivre…
Et si, a la fin de notre histoire, Vincent croise Theodiere, son rival et successeur en disgrace a son tour, ce sera sans haine, ni joie perverse : "Tu as l'air fatigue… tiens, bois un coup !".
