Barbara Graham is a woman with dubious moral standards, often a guest in seedy bars. She has been sentenced for
some petty crimes. Two men she knows murder an older woman. When they get caught they start to think that
Barbara has helped the police arresting them. As a revenge they tell the police that Barbara is the murderer.

Kampf bis zur letzten Minute, sie vor dem Tod in der Gaskammer zu retten. Susan Hayward erhielt für ihre
eindringliche Darstellung 1959 sowohl den Oscar als auch den Golden Globe als beste Hauptdarstellerin. Darüber

Un film en effet très fort avec une Susan Hayward assez incroyable. Wise fait merveille dans le côté réaliste
de son approche d'un destin contrarié et la bande-son jazzy couplé au ton de tragédie moderne donne une mélange
assez prenant, le sentiment d'injustice prenant petit à petit sa plcaE. un très beau plaidoyer humain, qu'on
peut mettre en parallèle avec Marqué par la haine dans son approche.
