    Im Frühjahr 1940 waren im Wald von Katyn, in der Nähe von Smolensk, auf persönlichen Befehl Stalins Tausende Polen, darunter Offiziere, Polizisten, Beamte und Geistliche fabrikmäßig mit Pistolenschüssen in den Hinterkopf ermordet worden. Die Männer waren in die Hand der Roten Armee gefallen, als diese, gemeinsam mit der Deutschen Wehrmacht, im Oktober 1939 Polen überfiel und besetzte. Nach Kriegsende beschuldigte die Sowjetunion die Wehrmacht, die Verbrechen begangen zu haben - eine Lüge, die
    viele Jahrzehnte aufrecht erhalten wurde. Erst 1990 gab Gorbatschow öffentlich zu, dass das Stalinistische System für den Massenmord verantwortlich war. Diese Dokumentation zeichnet detailliert die historische Wahrheit auf.
