    Some people like violence so much, that they decide to create a club in which human hunts are organized - members being alternately hunters, and prey, until they end up dead.
    A campy futuristic tale where people hunt one another for sport. In this film, Victim and Hunter run around Italy trying to score a kill in front of the movie crews they arranged so they could make commercials from the footage.

    Plot in English
    In the near future, big wars are avoided by giving individuals with violent tendencies a chance to kill in the Big Hunt. The Hunt is the most popular form of entertainment in the world and also attracts participants who are looking for fame and fortune. It includes ten rounds for each competitor, five as the hunter and five as the victim. The survivor of ten rounds becomes extremely wealthy and retires. Scenes switch between the pursuit, romance between the hunter and the victim, and a narrator explaining the rules and justification of the Hunt.
    Caroline Meredith (Ursula Andress) is the huntress armed with a high caliber Bosch shotgun looking for her tenth victim. Marcello Poletti (Marcello Mastroianni) is the victim. He is reluctant to kill Meredith as he is not sure whether she is his hunter, but then later because they become romantically involved. To maximize financial gain, Meredith wants to get a perfect kill in front of the cameras as she has negotiated a major sponsor from the Ming Tea Company.

    In un imprecisato futuro prossimo, è stata istituita a livello mondiale la Grande Caccia per regolamentare la violenza individuale e dare sfogo agli istinti aggressivi, evitando che prendano la forma collettiva delle guerre. Questa forma di assassinio legalizzato è diventato un grande spettacolo popolare al punto da rendere i suoi partecipanti dei veri e propri idoli.
    La giovane statunitense Caroline Meredith (Ursula Andress) è giunta abilmente alla sua decima ed ultima caccia. Per diventare campione decathon deve eliminare un'ultima vittima, l'indolente romano tipico Marcello Poletti (Marcello Mastroianni), che ha superato sei cacce senza dimostrare particolari capacità o impegno, preso piuttosto dai problemi familiari, la richiesta di annullamento del matrimonio con l'avida Lidia (Luce Bonifassy) e il tentativo di liberarsi anche della giovane amante Olga (Elsa Martinelli), in ossessiva attesa di sposarlo.
    Tormentato dalle due donne, che hanno raggiunto una morbosa intesa contro di lui, Marcello rimane affascinato dalla giovane e bella Caroline, che l'ha raggiunto a Roma ed avvicinato con la proposta di un'intervista.
    La giovane ha progettato di ucciderlo davanti alle telecamere, nello scenografico tempio di Venere, per guadagnare il compenso di uno sponsor pubblicitario, il quale ha organizzato una troupe video che segue l'evento in una sorta di reality show.
    Marcello sospetta presto che la donna sia il proprio cacciatore e organizza un analogo spettacolo mortale (con tanto di alligatore come mezzo di eliminazione dell'avversaria), esitando però a mettere in pratica il progetto da un lato per il timore di un errore di persona, che potrebbe costargli trent'anni di carcere; dall'altro perché finisce per innamorarsene.
    Marcello cade nella trappola, ma Caroline commette l'errore di sparargli con la pistola di lui, caricata a salve. L'uomo tenta a sua volta di ucciderla, ma non sa della sua invisibile protezione antiproiettile e fallisce. Infine, braccati da Lidia e Olga, decise a vendicarsi, i due scappano insieme su un aereo, dove Marcello, sotto la minaccia di un'arma, finisce per sposare Caroline.
