Ducks are true originals. They waddle, glide, dive, and dabble, and their feathers shimmer with dazzling hues, brilliant iridescence, and come in every color of the rainbow. There are more than 120 different species of ducks in all, a fantastical group of complex characters with names to match - Buffleheads, Canvasbacks, Pintails, Shovelers, Widgeons, and Woodies. Ducks are born knowing how to survive - how to swim, what to eat, how to find it, and where to fly in the winter. They must make it through a gauntlet of hungry predators, just waiting for a tasty little duckling to swim by. Even when grown, most ducks are still small enough to be vulnerable, but in the end, ducks have a talent for survival, and life stories filled with personality and charm.
