Horus, a kid living in a unnamed Scandinavian/Eastern Europe culture of the Iron Age, recovers the Sword of the Sun from the rock giant Moog and learns from his dying father that he must returns to his ancestral territory. In the process, he defends a village from the attacks of Grundewald, a warlord/ice demon and befriends the enigmatic Hilda, a lonely and beautiful girl who sings haunting songs (and who hides a terrible secret).
An IMDb Review: An excellent anime film from 1968Screenshots:
I have watched this anime film on Youtube.com, and I find it an excellent anime film from 1968. I have also found out that this film was one of the first movies that anime legends Hayao Miyazaki and Isao Takahata worked on. And being that the film is setted in The Norse lands, I am a fanatic on Norse folklore and myths; though I didn't see any trace in the film.
While watching the movie,I found the little children (Philip and Mauni), and Koro the bear cub to be very, VERY cute; I love Hilda too, even though she can be evil (under The Frost King's control),but she does have a great voice.
Note:TinyBearDs' Ghibli Studio's Collection
This movies was considered as a Pre-Ghibli work, because it's Takahata's directorial debut; Hayao Miyazaki was chief animator, concept artist, and scene designer)
