The film is made on motives of the Russian heroic epos about Vasiliy Buslaev. Vasily was famous for violent customs and didn't give rest to anybody in Novgorod. But when the hard time has come, has risen on Native land protection.
Travelling down the great rivers of Russia, Vasili and his band subjugated the Finns, the Mongols and most of the people around the Caspian Sea. They returned after a victorious campaign lasting many years.
