Welcome to Lagos is a British three-part mini-series which originally aired on BBC Two in April 2010. Narrated by David Harewood, the observational documentary series looked at life in the urban environment of Lagos, the most populous conurbation in Nigeria and one of the fastest growing cities in the world. The series follows denizens of Lagos as they go about their daily lives, from people living in the Olusosun rubbish dump to inhabitants of Lagos Lagoon. The series was produced by KEO Films. Critically acclaimed, the series won the 2011 BAFTA TV Award in the Best Factual Series category.

    Episode 1
Three-part documentary exploring life in the city of Lagos, Nigeria, one of the most rapidly expanding urban environments in the world. Around 1,000 people live in houses built from junk on top of the Olusosun rubbish dump, where a musician hopes that finding scrap will help him on his way to launching his career, while a trader works hard to provide for his wife and two small children.

    Episode 2
The series providing an insight into the urban environment of the Nigerian city continues with an exploration of Makoko, a slum built on the waters of Lagos Lagoon. Among the people who choose to live and work there are a fisherman who devises innovative schemes to support his 18 children and five grandchildren, and a saw operator who faces a dangerous existence at a timber yard.

    Episode 3
The series providing an insight into the urban environment of the Nigerian city highlights the plight of Esther, who has been living with her husband in a house they built from cardboard, scrap wood and tarpaulin. As government officers repeatedly bulldoze their village, the residents are forced to rebuild their homes, and now fear for the future of their way of life. The film also follows an enforcement unit as it targets illegal dwellings.
