The woman decides to leave her child in the back seat of an expensive automobile with a handwritten note imploring the finder to care for and love the baby. However, the car is stolen. When the two thieves discover the child, they leave him on the street. The Little Tramp (Charlie Chaplin) finds the baby. Unwilling at first to take on the responsibility, he eventually softens and names the boy John.

Five years pass, and the child becomes the Tramp's partner in minor crime, throwing stones to break windows that the Tramp can then repair. Meanwhile, the woman becomes a wealthy star. She does charity work among the poor to fill the void of her missing child. By chance, mother and child meet, but do not recognize each other.

When the boy becomes sick, a doctor comes to see him. He discovers that the Tramp is not the boy's father. The Tramp shows him the note left by the mother, but the doctor merely takes it and notifies the authorities. Two men come to take the boy to an orphanage, but after a fight and a chase, the Tramp regains his boy. When the woman comes back to see how the boy is doing, the doctor tells her what has happened, then shows her the note, which she recognizes.

The fugitives spend the night in a flophouse, but the manager (an uncredited Henry Bergman), having read of the $1000 reward offered for the child, takes him to the police station to be united with his ecstatic mother. When the Tramp wakes up, he searches frantically for the missing boy, then returns to doze beside the now-locked doorway to their humble home. In his sleep, he enters "Dreamland," with angels in residence and devilish interlopers. He is awakened by a policeman, who places the Tramp in a car and rides with him to a house. When the door opens, the woman and John emerge, reuniting the elated adoptive father and son. The policeman, happy for the family, shakes the Tramp's hand and leaves, before the woman welcomes the Tramp into her home.

The Kid is a 1921 American silent dramedy film written by, produced by, directed by and starring Charlie Chaplin, and features Jackie Coogan as his adopted son and sidekick. This was Chaplin's first full-length movie. It was a huge success, and was the second-highest grossing film in 1921, behind The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. In 2011, The Kid was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant."

Una ragazza sedotta e tradita, esce da un istituto di carità, dove ha messo al mondo un figlio. Ella decide di abbandonarlo, ma vorrebbe che il bimbo avesse un avvenire sicuro e felice: dopo molte esitazioni lo lascia nell'interno di un'automobile di lusso. Due ladri rubano la vettura: accortosi della presenza dell' incomodo passeggero, lo abbandonano sulla strada, dove lo trova Charlot, straccione vagabondo durante la sua passeggiata mattutina. Egli cerca di disfarsi del marmocchio, mettendolo nella carrozzella di un altro bimbo, ma è costretto a riprenderselo. Charlot non sa che fare, ma alla fine prevale in lui il buon cuore e tiene con sé il bambino. Qualche anno dopo Charlot e il monello collaborano: il ragazzetto rompe i vetri delle finestre e Charlot che fa il vetraio li sostituisce. Un giorno il bimbo s'ammala e il medico segnala il caso ai dirigenti dell'orfanotrofio, i quali vorrebbero togliere il ragazzino al padre adottivo. Charlot gioca d'astuzia e il monello rimane con lui, nascosto in un asilo notturno. Nel frattempo la madre del bimbo è divenuta una celebre cantante e cerca disperatamente il figlio: con un avviso sui giornali promette una lauta ricompensa a chi le riconsegnerà il ragazzo. Il padrone dell'asilo notturno rapisce il monello a Charlot e lo riconsegna alla madre. Charlot si sveglia e non trova il bimbo. Con il cuore in gola vaga per la città, finchè avvilito e disperato, s'addormenta sulla soglia della sua catapecchia. Egli sogna di essere in Paradiso, dove incontra i personaggi della realtà quotidiana, i quali però hanno le ali e si comportano con serafica compostezza. Ma anche lì scoppia una baruffa e Charlot si sveglia di soprassalto. L'ha svegliato un poliziotto, che lo condurrà dal monello e da sua madre.From Wikipedia

Recovery Volumes (.rev)
Recovery volumes or .rev files are special files which can be created by WinRAR/RAR and allow you to reconstruct missing and damaged files in a volume set. They can
only be used with multi-volume archives.
This feature may be useful for backups or, for example, when you post a multivolume archive to a newsgroup and some of the subscribers did not receive some files. Reposting recovery volumes instead of usual volumes may reduce the total number of files to repost.
Each recovery volume is able to reconstruct one missing RAR volume. For example, if you have 30 volumes and 3 recovery volumes, you are able to reconstruct any 3 missing volumes. If the number of .rev files is less than a number of missing volumes, reconstructing is impossible. The total number of usual and recovery volumes must not exceed 255 and the number of recovery volumes must be less than the number of RAR volumes.
WinRAR reconstructs missing and damaged volumes either when clicking on .rev file, or when using rc command or automatically, if it cannot locate the next volume and finds the required number of .rev files when unpacking.
You may use the "Recovery volumes" option in the Archive name and parameters dialog or a similar option also appears in the Protect archive command to create recovery volumes. In the command line mode you may do it with -rv switch or rv command.
Original copies of damaged volumes are renamed to *.bad before reconstruction. For example, volname.part03.rar will be renamed to volname.part03.rar.bad.
