Una mattina Lucia trova nella buca delle lettere un video accompagnato da un biglietto. Non riesce a crederci: quello in copertina è suo figlio Marco. Il film ha un titolo non proprio edificante ed è vietato ai minori. Si, insomma, Marco a quanto pare ha un talento nascosto e l'ha messo a frutto cimentandosi come pornostar. Lucia deve dirlo a Fausto, suo marito, e insieme dovranno parlarne con il ragazzo.

Travolta dalla rivelazione, Lucia aspetta a casa il ritorno del marito Fausto, che rimane a sua volta completamente scioccato dalla notizia, cominciando a porsi una serie infinita di dubbi, dalla corruzione del mondo della pornografia alla sua stessa “mascolinità”. Improvvisamente quel figlio che entrambi avevano sempre creduto un po' imbranato e senza alcun talento o vocazione si rivela una pornostar. Resta solo da accettare di capire come e perché.

È piuttosto raro che un romanzo di un famoso scrittore inglese venga adattato prima in Italia che all'estero. Perché se è vero che anche in Italia è ormai in atto un processo che tende a sfruttare format e soggetti stranieri in funzione degli attori del nostro panorama cine-televisivo (Benvenuti al Sud o La peggior settimana della mia vita non sono che due esempi), i buoni rapporti fra Nick Hornby e la commedia anglosassone (Febbre a 90°; Alta fedeltà; About a Boy) farebbero comunque pensare a un dominio esclusivo.
L'eccezione di È nata una star si giustifica probabilmente nel fatto che, a fronte di una premessa narrativa forte, il breve racconto di Hornby trova proprio nel suo carattere fulmineo ed estemporaneo e nella leggerezza e velocità di scrittura i tratti essenziali della sua forma. Tratti poco facilmente adattabili ai tempi ordinari del racconto cinematografico, che Lucio Pellegrini (assieme a Michele Pellegrini e a Massimo Gaudioso) decide di rispettare assemblandoli con una serie di nuovi spunti brillanti fino a raggiungere la canonica commedia in tre atti.

La tragicomica rivelazione iniziale, la caccia ai realizzatori del video, le vergogne e i dilemmi di Papaleo, la scuola multietnica della Littizzetto: messi assieme ai dissidi genitoriali raccontati da Hornby avrebbero potuto creare un accoppiamento gaudente. E invece, se questi si limitano a essere interventi descritti dalla narrazione in fuori campo della protagonista, gli altri sono solo delle cartucce sparate a salve, dei coiti interrotti.
I due protagonisti fanno quello che possono per dare effervescenza a questa costellazione di episodi, ma è proprio la scrittura a non salvare nessuna delle buone premesse, come se la sua unica preoccupazione fosse quella di stemperare qualunque situazione potenzialmente triviale o pruriginosa. E a forza di smacchiare qualunque alone di natura sessuale finisce col non avere nessun colore, nessuna anima.

English Synopsis
One morning Lucia is in the letterbox of a video accompanied by a ticket. He can not believe: that the cover is his son Marco. Recovery Volumes (.rev)
Recovery volumes or .rev files are special files which can be created by WinRAR/RAR and allow you to reconstruct missing and damaged files in a volume set. They can
only be used with multi-volume archives.
This feature may be useful for backups or, for example, when you post a multivolume archive to a newsgroup and some of the subscribers did not receive some files. Reposting recovery volumes instead of usual volumes may reduce the total number of files to repost.
Each recovery volume is able to reconstruct one missing RAR volume. For example, if you have 30 volumes and 3 recovery volumes, you are able to reconstruct any 3 missing volumes. If the number of .rev files is less than a number of missing volumes, reconstructing is impossible. The total number of usual and recovery volumes must not exceed 255 and the number of recovery volumes must be less than the number of RAR volumes.
WinRAR reconstructs missing and damaged volumes either when clicking on .rev file, or when using rc command or automatically, if it cannot locate the next volume and finds the required number of .rev files when unpacking.
You may use the "Recovery volumes" option in the Archive name and parameters dialog or a similar option also appears in the Protect archive command to create recovery volumes. In the command line mode you may do it with -rv switch or rv command.
Original copies of damaged volumes are renamed to *.bad before reconstruction. For example, volname.part03.rar will be renamed to volname.part03.rar.bad.
