Nestor deve vendere la vecchia casa di campagna e chiama in soccorso l'amico Wilson e sua figlia Laura per ripulirla e rimetterla in ordine a tal scopo. Quando si allontana per andare a cercare del cibo, però, Laura comincia a sentire dei rumori provenire dal primo piano e manda il padre a controllare, disobbedendo alle istruzioni. Wilson torna massacrato, ma non è che il primo dei misteri e degli orrori che la dimora ha in serbo per la giornata.
Fortunato esercizio di stile, girato con una telecamerina ad alta definizione in soli quattro giorni, con tre attori e un rigido (o quasi) credo operativo: mai interrompere la ripresa, mai premere stop, nessuna pausa alla tensione.
Un unico piano sequenza di 78 minuti rincorre dunque Laura, affidandole e domandandole il ruolo di vettore principale della paura in un percorso cosparso di tòpoi del genere, che mal cela il divertimento che lo ispira. Si debutta con la dichiarazione di verità della vicenda e si prosegue con le finestre sbarrate che giustificano il buio, con le ragnatele, il falcetto arrugginito, i flash e le polaroid, i fantasmi della colpa e dell'innocenza perduta. Un armamentario di base o repertorio da magazzino, per un film basilare che non mira certo a riscrivere il genere ma si contenta di segnalarsi per l'espediente tecnico-narrativo.
Immaginiamo la troupe dietro le quinte ravvivare il sanguinolento trucco al volo e spostare gli oggetti brancolando nel buio, perché in un lavoro così è forzatamente “buona la prima”. Immaginiamo anche una meticolosa preparazione e un'accurata postproduzione, specie in sede di lavoro sul sonoro. Il “però” lo riserviamo “solo” all'avventurarsi della protagonista in una sequenza di azioni l'una più inverosimile dell'altra, nell'assenza di un telefonino per quanto scomodo e di qualsivoglia idea originale. Sarà anche una storia che trova origine in un fatto di cronaca reale nell'Uruguay degli anni Quaranta ma non è più quel tempo: la paura non ha età, il cinema sì.

The plot is based on a true story that happened in the late 40's in a small village in Uruguay. The film focuses on Laura, who, second by second, intends to leave a house which hides an obscure secret, unharmed. Laura and her father Wilson settle down in a cottage they have to renew since its owner will soon put the house up for sale. They will spend the night there and repair the following morning. Everything seems to go smoothly until Laura hears a sound that comes from outside and gets louder and louder on the upper floor of the house. Wilson goes up to see what is going on while she remains downstairs on her own, waiting for her father to come down.

Recovery Volumes (.rev)
Recovery volumes or .rev files are special files which can be created by WinRAR/RAR and allow you to reconstruct missing and damaged files in a volume set. They can
only be used with multi-volume archives.
This feature may be useful for backups or, for example, when you post a multivolume archive to a newsgroup and some of the subscribers did not receive some files. Reposting recovery volumes instead of usual volumes may reduce the total number of files to repost.
Each recovery volume is able to reconstruct one missing RAR volume. For example, if you have 30 volumes and 3 recovery volumes, you are able to reconstruct any 3 missing volumes. If the number of .rev files is less than a number of missing volumes, reconstructing is impossible. The total number of usual and recovery volumes must not exceed 255 and the number of recovery volumes must be less than the number of RAR volumes.
WinRAR reconstructs missing and damaged volumes either when clicking on .rev file, or when using rc command or automatically, if it cannot locate the next volume and finds the required number of .rev files when unpacking.
You may use the "Recovery volumes" option in the Archive name and parameters dialog or a similar option also appears in the Protect archive command to create recovery volumes. In the command line mode you may do it with -rv switch or rv command.
Original copies of damaged volumes are renamed to *.bad before reconstruction. For example, volname.part03.rar will be renamed to volname.part03.rar.bad.
