Dopo aver lasciato la squadra narcotici della polizia di Los Angeles a causa di un'operazione pasticciata e andata a male, lo sceriffo Ray Owens ha lasciato la metropoli per trasferirsi nella piccola Sommerton Junction, dove si dedica alla lotta contro la piccola criminalità. La sua pacifica esistenza viene rovinata quando Gabriel Cortez, famoso narcotrafficante, evade in maniera spettacolare da un convoglio dell'Fbi. Con l'aiuto di una feroce banda di fuorilegge, capitanata dal gelido Burrell, Cortez si dirige verso il confine con il Messico portandosi appresso un ostaggio. Il percorso di Cortez prevede di far tappa a Sommerton Junction, dove lo attendono le forze di polizia di tutto lo stato, tra cui l'agente John Bannister. In un primo momento reticente a farsi coinvolgere, Owens finisce con il prendere la situazione in mano e guidare le operazioni per fermare Cortez.

Sheriff Owens is a man who has resigned himself to a life of fighting what little crime takes place in sleepy border town Sommerton Junction after leaving his LAPD post following a bungled operation that left him wracked with failure and defeat after his partner was crippled. After a spectacular escape from an FBI prisoner convoy, the most notorious, wanted drug kingpin in the hemisphere is hurtling toward the border at 200 mph in a specially outfitted car with a hostage and a fierce army of gang members. He is headed, it turns out, straight for Summerton Junction, where the whole of U.S. law enforcement will have their last opportunity to make a stand and intercept him before he slips across the border forever. At first reluctant to become involved, and then counted out because of the perceived ineptitude of his small town force, Owens ultimately accepts responsibility for the face off.

Recovery Volumes (.rev)
Recovery volumes or .rev files are special files which can be created by WinRAR/RAR and allow you to reconstruct missing and damaged files in a volume set. They can
only be used with multi-volume archives.
This feature may be useful for backups or, for example, when you post a multivolume archive to a newsgroup and some of the subscribers did not receive some files. Reposting recovery volumes instead of usual volumes may reduce the total number of files to repost.
Each recovery volume is able to reconstruct one missing RAR volume. For example, if you have 30 volumes and 3 recovery volumes, you are able to reconstruct any 3 missing volumes. If the number of .rev files is less than a number of missing volumes, reconstructing is impossible. The total number of usual and recovery volumes must not exceed 255 and the number of recovery volumes must be less than the number of RAR volumes.
WinRAR reconstructs missing and damaged volumes either when clicking on .rev file, or when using rc command or automatically, if it cannot locate the next volume and finds the required number of .rev files when unpacking.
You may use the "Recovery volumes" option in the Archive name and parameters dialog or a similar option also appears in the Protect archive command to create recovery volumes. In the command line mode you may do it with -rv switch or rv command.
Original copies of damaged volumes are renamed to *.bad before reconstruction. For example, volname.part03.rar will be renamed to volname.part03.rar.bad.
