Three British agents are made out: the first, struck through the headset she wore, the second stabbed while attending a mock funeral and that becomes his third, who is bitten by a poisonous snake around his neck during a voodoo ritual. M incarica Bond di scoprire se esiste una connessione tra i tre delitti: secondo alcune informazioni, la pista da seguire condurrebbe al diplomatico dell'isola di San Monique, Mr. Kananga. Grazie all'aiuto di Felix Leiter, di Quarrel Jr. e della veggente voodoo Solitaire, Bond riuscirà a sventare il diabolico piano del suo antagonista e dei suoi innumerevoli scagnozzi, per poi fare un "tranquillo" viaggio in treno con la sua bella.
