    Der Film "Die Frau mit dem roten Hut" stammt aus dem Jahr 1982. Er ist den Ruf eines Bekannten gefolgt, der die wirtschaftliche Not ausnutzt, um sich in der Weimarer Republik ein schönes Leben zu machen. Die verlockenden Angebote, die ihm sein Gastgeber macht, lehnt er ab. Der Grund dafür ist, dass er sich in eine Frau verliebt hat. Bei der Dame handelt es sich um eine Straßenkünstlerin, die immer mit einem roten Hut unterwegs ist. Obwohl die Frau ihren Verehrer zuerst wenig Beachtung schenkt, entsteht langsam auch von ihr aus eine große Zuneigung zu dem ausländischen Schriftsteller…
