Venice is unique with its many canals and palaces. The film shows the familiar, as well as the lesser-known sights - St. Mark's Square with the palaces, the Grand Canal with numerous historic buildings and the fish market. Also the islands of Murano and Lido are presented. Venice is a jewel - but has many problems, some have been solved, as the waste problem - others need solving like the slowly sinking - to save the city. The tourist streams are flowing as long as Venice exists - the city is marvelous and the stimulus emanating from it is still unbroken.
