The Hubble Space Telescope was deployed from the Space Shuttle Discovery on April 25, 1990 and with 20 years of service it has proved invaluable in providing us with information from our own solar system right through to galaxies well over 12 billion light years away.
It has revolutionised astronomy and changed forever our knowledge of deep space and the history of the universe itself. This is the inside story of the most dangerous Shuttle mission to Hubble.
The future of the space telescope depends on the success of this mission. During their five demanding space walks, the crew of the Shuttle will have to perform some of the riskiest repair work ever attempted in space and bring Hubble back into better than before working order.
