In un futuro indefinito battezzato "Domani", l’ordine mondiale è cambiato. Con i suoi dieci milioni di disoccupati, la Francia fa ora parte dei paesi poveri. La sua popolazione oscilla tra rivolta e rassegnazione e trova sfogo in battaglie televisive ultra violente in cui i lottatori sono dopati in tutta legalità. I gruppi farmaceutici hanno scuderie di campioni che approfittano degli ultimi ritrovati in materia. Arès, invece, non è un campione: è semmai un combattente a fine corsa che ha bisogno di denaro per far uscire di prigione sua sorella. Il suo coach gli propone allora una droga sperimentale destinata a fargli vincere tutti i suoi prossimi match, se sopravvive alle iniezioni. Arès accetta di fare da cavia ma è solo l’inizio della manipolazione.
