About the sons of a Spanish Civil Guard Commandant and a Basque political leader who both become hooked on cocaine, and have to become drug pushers to pay for the addiction. One of them is also involved in a homosexual relationship and becomes involved with a prostitute.

Overdose (1983)
This movie belongs to the "quinqui" genre, i.e. tales of impoverished teenagers having sex, taking drugs or trying to score a fix by selling their bodies. Basically, it's Pasolini's "Ragazzi di vita" in the post-Regime Spain. Like the italian novelist and filmmaker, in fact, Eloy de la Iglesia used to cast young non-professional actors to play themselves: José Luis Manzano and "Pirri" actually were uneducated and unemployed kids bound to tragically die of an overdose or AIDS. However, "El Pico" features an interesting variation on the fixed "quinqui" formula: in this movie, in fact, the troubled teen protagonists are the son of a politician and the son of a General.

This is one of the most realistic and shocking movies about drugs ever made, and one of the best I have ever seen. Set in Bilbao Spain in the early 80's we meet two teenagers Paco and Urko who deal drugs for living and hag out with Betty a foreign prostitute whom together they share sex and drugs mainly Heroin, Paco also hags out with a Homosexual local artist in secret. Well, the problem begins when Paco and Urko become addicted to Heroin, and not only that, Paco is the son of a sergeant of the Guardia Civil and Urko's dad is a leader of an important political party.

The film's atmosphere is cold and dark, the scenes of drug use sex and nudity are quit explicit, the acting and direction are good, probably one of Eloy De La Iglesias's best work.IMDB Reviewer
