An party-lovin' college student in upstate New York's wild romp with an attractive classmate gets videotaped and accidentally sent to his girlfriend in Texas. Now he and his campus pals are off on a wild cross-country "Road Trip" (2000) to intercept the tape. Breckin Meyer, DJ Qualls, Amy Smart and Tom Green star. Also, the zany fun continues as a group of recent high school graduates travels to London, Paris, Amsterdam, Rome, and other continental hot spots for the sexiest, wildest time of their lives in "Eurotrip" (2004).

Road Trip
When an extra hot video of Josh (Breckin Meyer) getting freaky with the luscious Beth (Amy Smart) is accidentally mailed to his girlfriend, he has three days to get to Texas before the tape does! Join Seann William Scott, Tom Green, three guys, one snake and a bevy of nubile babes in a hilarious adventure of insane proportions that The Washington Post (Desson Howe) howls is "pretty #@%*@# funny!"

Eurotrip / Road Trip (Double Feature) [Unrated] [ReUp]

There's something about films like "Road Trip" that make you forgive their flaws, or at least most of them. The energetic little movie, powered by several good performances, sometimes wanders down the wrong road. Mostly though, the jokes succeed and the film entertains. The movie stars Breckin Meyer("Go", "Clueless") as Josh, a student at the University of Ithaca, whose girlfriend, Tiffany(Rachel Blanchard) is studying thousands of miles away in Austin, TX.

The two have always kept faithful to one another, until Josh falls for classmate Beth (Amy Smart) and accidentially leaves his video camera on when the two get in bed. Of course, the tape is accidentially mailed to Tiffany, and so our story begins. Or, at least somewhat. "Road Trip" is actually told in flashback by Ithaca school tour guide Barry(Tom Green), who begins to tell the tale of the "Road Trip" once it looks like the latest tour isn't going to well.

Eurotrip / Road Trip (Double Feature) [Unrated] [ReUp]

When the film is actually focused on the trip, it's extremely funny. Meyer's character (along with Sean William Scott, DJ Qualls, Paolo Costanzo) have some very amusing adventures, starting off with an attempt to jump their car over a washed-out bridge that gets even worse, and going from there. Meanwhile, Beth mistakenly is told that Josh has gone to Boston (kinda sounds like Austin), and she sets off. This subplot really doesn't go anywhere. I would have liked Smart to be put to slightly better use; she's a very good actress. Performances are all quite good, and Scott is even funnier here than he was playing a similar character in "American Pie".

Eurotrip / Road Trip (Double Feature) [Unrated] [ReUp]

Overall, "Road Trip" is certainly not high art, but offers enough laughs and semi-original situations to provide 95 minutes of laughs. There is an R-rated and Unrated edition of the DVD. This "unrated" edition provides a couple of additional minutes of nudity.

Eurotrip
Europe will never be the same after Scotty Thomas and his buddies take off for the excess! They're hooking up with hot strangers and jamming all the extreme insanity they can into the wildest trip of their lives! No swimsuit, no problem. Let it all hang out 'cause you're diving into the totally wild pleasures of Eurotrip Unrated!

Eurotrip / Road Trip (Double Feature) [Unrated] [ReUp]

"Eurotrip" is the kind of movie that introduces a projectile vomit gag within the opening credits. Offensive, disgusting and crude, the film manages to be about the most "R-rated" mainstream comedy I've seen in a while. However, I laughed quite a bit - despite the material being wildly lowbrow, I just couldn't help myself.

The film focuses on Scotty (Scott Mechlowicz), an American teenager who's just been dumped by his girlfriend (Kirsten Kreuk of "Smallville") after graduation. Afterwards, he gets an email from Mieke, his German pen pal. After thinking that Mieke is a guy's name, he tells her to stop contacting him, only to find out later that Mieke is a German girl's name and this girl is particularly hot.

So, Scotty and Cooper (Jacob Pitts) head off to Europe as couriers in order to get a cheap flight, heading to the first available stop (London) instead of the desired destination of Berlin ("Europe is like, the size of the mall. We can walk to Berlin from there.") During their journey to find Mieke, the two meet up with Jamie (Travis Wester) and Jenny (Michelle Trachtenberg, who is cute, but scary thin), twins who seem to completely lack any intuition about what the other is thinking.

Eurotrip / Road Trip (Double Feature) [Unrated] [ReUp]

The film isn't so much plot-driven as made up of smaller sketches; the four are hit on by a strange man on a Eurorail train, one has a surprise visit with dominatrix (played by Lucy Lawless), where the "safe" word is an unprouncable German word; stereotypes of Europeans are thrown about, drinks are shared with soccer hooligans (including one played by "Snatch"'s Vinnie Jones) and they set the pope's hat on fire. Things get momentarily worse (until they find out the "exchange rate" in Bratislava translates well to $1.83 American) when they all lose their passports and belongings and end up far, far from Berlin.

Eurotrip / Road Trip (Double Feature) [Unrated] [ReUp]

The film was written by the team of Alec Berg, David Mandel and Jeff Schafer, who have been very funny in the past (all wrote for "Seinfeld", Mandel had a stint with the animated "Clerks" TV series and "SNL") and have collaborated on one serious disaster ("Cat in the Hat"). The film isn't consistently funny, but there are great lines of dialogue scattered throughout and some very amusing bits. One can't help but wonder if the film wouldn't have been even funnier with a different cast; none of the main four seems to have particularly strong comedic timing, although they all provide satisfactory performances. Some of the funnier performances come from the cameos, such as Matt Damon's performance as the guy who steals Scott's girlfriend - a shaved-head rocker who pens a hit with the catchy "Scotty Don't Know." I'd complain about the lack of European sights throughout the film, but the low-budget feature was shot almost entirely in Prague (while beautiful, I was expecting to see things in other parts of Europe), apparently.

Eurotrip / Road Trip (Double Feature) [Unrated] [ReUp]

Overall, "Eurotrip" basically entertained, had some very funny bits and was over pretty quickly.

This is the "unrated" edition of "Eurotrip". The running time appears to be nearly the same as the theatrical release, but there is a little more nudity and swearing (as seen in the "unrated scene index" included).
