RAF Waddington International Airshow (2004)

Welcome to Waddington International 2004 - the Royal Air Force's Number One air show! The RAF dominates the skies over the Lincolnshire airfield with a stunning performance by the Eurofighter Typhoon T1 in its first display year, plus blistering routines from RAF Tornados, Hawk and Jaguar together with BBMF Lancaster, Spitfire and Hurricane. The Red Arrows celebrate their 40th Anniversary with a formation fly past with a Red Arrows Gnat and a precision display that leaves the crowd breathless.

The Frecce Tricolori and Patrulla Aguila also dazzle with memorable routines (the Aguila are captured here on new 'Helmet-cams' to give you a real pilot's eye view!). Giving its first display for 12 years, the RAF Chinook wins the coveted 'Best Display' prize. Giving it a close run for its money though is the RNZAF P3K Orion, doing knife-edge 90 degree passes and tearing up the sky just like a fighter! There are also power displays from a Belgian F-16, Hunter F-58, Austrian Saab 105 0E, and the stunning 899 squadron Sea Harrier as well as thrilling aerobatics from the Honda Dream Team SU26.

But it's not all jets. The rare sight of a Catalina flying boat thrills the crowd and the Army Air Cops Historic Flight presents a host of veterans including the Beaver, Auster, Scout, Sioux and Chipmunk. Elite chopper display teams - the Black Cats and Blue Eagles - both turn in fine displays and the Utterly Butterly Barnstormers recreate the glory days of wing walking!
