The film is an enjoyable Biblical story with romance,drama,love story and fascinating scenarios.It’s a known epic story of Ruth whose descendant will be King David .Elana Eden as Ruth is marvellous however after she acted barely ,the veteran Peggy Wood is magnificent and Stuart Whitman as the tough Boaz makes an agreeable interpretation. Colorful and spectacular cinematography in CinemaScope by Arthur Arling as is reflected on the sensational outdoors.The luxurious costume by the usual Nino Novarese.Sensible music by the classic Franz Waxman.The film is well directed with big budget by Henry Koster. The picture will like to religious films fans and Biblical history buffs. Rating : Good and nice.It’s worthwhile seeing.

Dieses großartig inszenierte biblische Epos erzählt die dramatische Geschichte der Mohabiterin Ruth, die ihrem heidnischen Glauben abschwört, um sich dem Christentum anzuschließen. Im Land der Mohabiter werden grausame Ritten praktiziert - einmal im Jahr wird dem heidnischen Gott Kemosch ein Kind als Blutopfer dargebracht. Die junge Priesterin Ruth hat die Aufgabe, jenes Kind zu unterrichten, das dem grausamen Götzen geopfert werden soll. Kurze Zeit vor dem schauerlichen Zeremoniell lernt sie den israelitischen Goldschmied Mahlon kennen und verliebt sich in ihn. Er macht sie mit der Religion seines Volkes vertraut: Ein unsichtbarer, allmächtiger Gott der verzeihenden Güte, der keine Menschenopfer fordert. Ruth trifft eine folgenschwere Entscheidung, die ihr weiteres Leben vollkommen verändert…

Ruth, sacerdotessa del culto di Chemosh, va in crisi dopo aver conosciuto una famiglia di giudei e si rifiuta di compiere sacrifici umani. L'ira del Gran Sacerdote colpisce lei e il gruppo di ebrei. Con l'unica superstite Naomi, Ruth si rifugia a Betlemme, convertendosi all'ebraismo. Qui, dopo aver dimostrato la sincerità della sua conversione, sposa Boaz: della loro discendenza farà parte David. En Israël, à l’époque des Juges. L’étonnante destinée de la Moabite Ruth, prêtresse dans un temple païen, qui va se retrouver déchirée entre ses convictions religieuses et son amour pour Boaz, un hébreu. Leur histoire, controversée, va donner naissance à l’une des plus légendaires descendances de l’Histoire, celle du Roi David.

Sin embargo, siendo ya una jovencita, Ruth se conmueve ante el sufrimiento de un esclavo judío de nombre Mahlón (Tom Tryon), renuncia a su idolatría, lo libera y traba amistad con su madre Naomi (Peggy Wood). Una tragedia lleva a las mujeres a emprender un difícil viaje hasta Jerusalén. Es entonces cuando Ruth conoce a Boaz (Stuart Whitman) y se enamora de él. Pero Ruth ha sido comprometida con otro hombre, de modo que debe valerse de su ingenio, de su valor y de su nueva fe para hallar la paz que siempre ha perseguido.
