A trip into the grooves, Vinylmania is a 75 minute feature length documentary about an object that has never lost its soul: the vinyl record. An epic love story, the film is filled with fascinating characters and internationally recognized artists including PHILIPPE COHEN SOLAL (Gotan Project), WINSTON SMITH (Dead Kennedys, Green Day record sleeve artist), PETER SAVILLE (Joy Division, New Order record sleeve artist) and DJ KENTARO (2002 DMC World DJ Champion). It's filmed in many countries and people are interviewed in their local languages.

Devotion, ecstasy, infatuation, agony – all feelings that the director of the film, Paolo Campana, has experienced from childhood and shares with like-minded record collectors, DJs, musicians and artists (the said vinylmaniacs) in the documentary. Set in 11 different cities worldwide, the director sets out on a global road trip to find out what role vinyl records play in the 21st century.
Paolo Campana was born in 1968 in Turin, Italy. Film and documentary maker, Paolo has already made a number of personal films selected in Italian and foreign festival. He made his first short in 35mm in 1996, a tribute to the Bloody Sunday’s day. In 2007-08 Paolo worked for the Italian public channel RAITRE directing short films for the children’s show “Screensaver”. Paolo has worked extensively as camera-operator and editor. Currently he’s working as a DJ-performer under a number of different names.
The bonus DVD contains 15 tracks of exclusive material filmed with outtakes from the film and short personal stories from artists, collectors, DJs and musicians, record stores, labels and other curiosities from the groove of vinyl records, like a google map with record shops. In my opinion this is even more interesting then the first DVD:
