Ann Darrow (Fay Wray) agrees to star in a film directed by Carl Denham (Robert Armstrong). The two set sail on the S.S. Venture for filming on a mysterious island in the Indian Ocean. During the course of the voyage, Ann falls in love with First Mate Jack Driscoll (Bruce Cabot). The island is reached but the natives kidnap Ann and prepare her as a sacrifice to Kong, a huge ape creature who dwells on the island. Kong discovers Ann tied to a native altar and carries her to his jungle lair.

Driscoll, Denham, and the crew set out to rescue Ann. They are menaced by dinosaurs along the jungle trail, first by a Stegosaurus, and then a Brontosaurus, and many crew members are killed. Driscoll finds and snatches Ann from Kong's lair but the two are pursued by Kong as they race through the jungle to safety. Kong destroys the native village in his search for Ann. He is finally subdued by hand-tossed gas bombs. Denham returns to civilization with Kong in tow. When Kong is exhibited on the New York stage, he breaks his chains, retakes Ann, and climbs to the top of the Empire State Building. Here, as throughout, the beast showed feelings and protective care for the beautiful blonde girl, who was horrified by the cruel treatment of the beast as much as by the death and devastation it caused.

Along the way, he destroys an elevated subway line and tosses the cars around. He gets into a battle with a squadron of military airplanes and despite taking one of them down is wounded by gunfire and falls to his death. Ann is reunited with Driscoll. Below on the street, Denham makes his way through the gathered crowd to look upon the fallen Kong. A police lieutenant says to him, "Well Denham, the airplanes got him." The film ends with Carl Denham's famous reply, "Oh, no, it wasn't the airplanes…it was Beauty killed the Beast."

King Kong is a Pre-Code 1933 fantasy monster adventure film co-directed by Merian C. Cooper and Ernest B. Schoedsack, and written by Ruth Rose and James Ashmore Creelman after a story by Cooper and Edgar Wallace. The film tells of a gigantic island-dwelling apeman creature called Kong who dies in an attempt to possess a beautiful young woman. The film stars Bruce Cabot, Fay Wray and Robert Armstrong and opened in New York City on March 2, 1933 to good reviews. Kong is distinguished for its stop-motion animation by Willis O'Brien and its musical score by Max Steiner. The film has been released to video, DVD, and Blu-ray, and has been computer colorized. In 1991, the film was deemed "culturally, historically and aesthetically significant" by the Library of Congress and selected for preservation in the National Film Registry. It has been remade on two occasions; one in 1976 and the other in 2005.

Agli inizi della Grande Depressione, un arrogante regista di successo noto per i suoi documentari, Carl Denham, è in procinto della bancarotta e, per risollevare le sue sorti, cerca disperatamente una protagonista per il suo nuovo film. All'ennesimo fallimento del suo agente, Charles Weston, decide di cercare tra la gente comune la sua attrice; casualmente si imbatte in Ann Darrow, bellissima, bionda e in gravi difficoltà economiche a cui propone una scrittura. Ann accetta e si imbarca verso la sospirata e promessa gloria su un'isola misteriosa, denominata Isola del Teschio, non segnata sulle carte. Nella ciurma ci sono il primo ufficiale Jack Driscoll, il Capitano Englehorn, il secondo ufficiale Briggs e il bombardiere Jimmy. Dopo una lunga navigazione, la troupe giunge all'isola e vi sbarca proprio mentre gli indigeni stanno celebrando uno strano rituale tribale; gli stranieri non sono accolti al meglio e decidono di ritornare sulla nave.

Kong viene richiamato dal rullo dei tamburi e dal clangore dei gong e si mostra alla spaventatissima Ann in tutta la sua orribile e gigantesca statura; ma il gorilla, invece di uccidere la ragazza, la raccoglie delicatamente e la porta con sè nella foresta. Englehorn organizza un gruppo di uomini, formato da Jack, Jimmy, Carl e undici marinai, che cercheranno di raggiungere e liberare la ragazza, scontrandosi contro uno Stegosaurus, che viene tramortito. Giunti a una palude decidono di imbarcarsi su una zattera per attraversarla. Ma un Apatosaurus capovolge la zattera uccidendo tre marinai, mentre Denham, Jack e gli altri fuggono: uno dei marinai rimane però indietro rimanendo anch'egli ucciso. Denham, in coda alla fila, si ferisce e rimane indietro, impigliandosi tra i rami, mentre gli altri arrivano ad un precipizio che dovranno superare camminando su un tronco gigantesco, ma interviene il gorilla che uccide tutti i marinai, Jimmy compreso. Gli unici sopravvissuti sono Jack e Carl…

Come Usare i file. REV - How use .REV files

I volumi di ripristino, o file .rev, sono file speciali creati da WinRAR e che possono essere utilizzati per ricostruire uno o più volumi mancanti o danneggiati di un archivio multi-volume. Questo comando ha senso solo per archivi multi-volume.
Questa prestazione può essere utile per copie di sicurezza o, ad esempio, quando postate un archivio multi-volume in un news-group e qualcuno degli utenti non ha ricevuto alcuni file. Postando solamente il volume di ripristino invece di tutti i file mancanti ai vari utenti, si può ridurre il numero dei file da rispedire.

Un file .rev permette di ricostruire un volume RAR mancante o danneggiato, uno qualsiasi di quelli che compongono l'archivio multi-volume. Ad esempio, se avete un archivio multi-volume composto da 30 volumi e 3 volumi di ripristino, potete ricostruire sino a 3 volumi presi tra qualsiasi dei 30 originali. Se il numero dei file .rev è inferiore al numero dei volumi da ricostruire, la ricostruzione è impossibile. Il numero totale dei volumi normali e di quelli di ripristino non può superare i 255.

I volumi originali RAR non devono essere modificati dopo la creazione dei volumi di ripristino. L'algoritmo di ripristino utilizza i dati memorizzati sia nei volumi di ripristino che in quelli RAR per ricostruire i volumi RAR mancanti. Quindi se modificate un volume RAR, ad esempio bloccandolo dopo aver creato dei file .REV, l'operazione di ripristino fallisce.
WinRAR ricostruisce i volumi mancanti o danneggiati sia cliccando direttamente su di un file .rev, sia utilizzando il comando rc (Il comando rc è un opzione da usare con rar versione dos, se si usa winrar per win non va considerata)
o automaticamente se non può individuare un volume seguente e trova un numero sufficiente di file .rev.

Recovery Volumes (.rev)

Recovery volumes or .rev files are special files which can be created by WinRAR/RAR and allow you to reconstruct missing and damaged files in a volume set. They can
only be used with multi-volume archives.

This feature may be useful for backups or, for example, when you post a multivolume archive to a newsgroup and some of the subscribers did not receive some files. Reposting recovery volumes instead of usual volumes may reduce the total number of files to repost.

Each recovery volume is able to reconstruct one missing RAR volume. For example, if you have 30 volumes and 3 recovery volumes, you are able to reconstruct any 3 missing volumes. If the number of .rev files is less than a number of missing volumes, reconstructing is impossible. The total number of usual and recovery volumes must not exceed 255 and the number of recovery volumes must be less than the number of RAR volumes.

WinRAR reconstructs missing and damaged volumes either when clicking on .rev file, or when using rc command or automatically, if it cannot locate the next volume and finds the required number of .rev files when unpacking.

You may use the "Recovery volumes" option in the Archive name and parameters dialog or a similar option also appears in the Protect archive command to create recovery volumes. In the command line mode you may do it with -rv switch or rv command.

Original copies of damaged volumes are renamed to *.bad before reconstruction. For example, volname.part03.rar will be renamed to volname.part03.rar.bad.
