Movie begins in Jamaica, where the British agent John Strangways and his secretary are murdered by three blacks who pretend to be blind. In London, James Bond is called in the office of his boss M, which forces him to change his old Beretta with a Walther PPK, given to him by the head gear, Major Boothroyd.
007 is instructed to go to Jamaica to investigate the mysterious disappearance of Strangways and his secretary. Kingston Airport Bond passes a girl suspected of trying to photograph it. A taxi driver stops him to accompany him to the Governor's house. The driver is actually a stooge of the enemy, who committed suicide after a fight with Bond not to reveal the identity of his client. Immediately after 007 meets with the governor Pleydell-Smith, and General Potter, who regularly played cards with Strangways. Bond discovers that it was a big fan of fishing and who often rented the boat to the Quarrel, a fisherman in the area. These initially not sure of the intentions of the spy, decides not to cooperate. But after Bond puts him to the mat and Pussfeller, owner of the local bar, he discovers through the intervention of Quarrel Felix Leiter, a CIA agent, that 007 is the British secret service.
