Partiamo dal principio, che poi è anche la fine. Sì, perché gli autori hanno fatto una scelta coraggiosa e hanno deciso di rivelare alla principessa che è lei stessa il seme tanto necessario alla rinascita dell’Eterea fin dall’inizio dell’episodio. Scelta che si dimostra oltremodo efficace, perché trasforma tutta la puntata in un lungo requiem, una sorta di calvario che accompagna Amberle verso la fine della sua vita umana, una canzone in onore del suo sacrificio. E proprio il sacrificio sembra essere il tema portante dell’intero season finale.

Non ne rimane estranea neppure Eretria, che prima, nonostante la stanchezza e i rischi che ha corso, decide di riaprire il fuoco di sangue per permettere ad Amberle di ricongiungersi con loro e poi rimane indietro ad affrontare una probabile morte per consentire agli altri di proseguire. Il gesto di Eretria è importante in più di un senso, perché sono le sue parole a far capire alla compagna che non può sfuggire al suo destino e voltare semplicemente le spalle alle sue responsabilità e che l’importanza della loro missione va semplicemente al di là di tutti loro e dei loro desideri.

Questo nuovo serial è che si ispira al secondo libro della prima trilogia di Brooks, Le pietre magiche di Shannara. Sarà composto da dieci puntate. La storia è ambientata nelle Quattro Terre, centinaia di anni dopo una guerra che ha distrutto gran parte della civiltà. E racconta le vicende della giovane elfo Amberle Elessedil, di Wil Ohmsford, metà elfo e metà umano, e di Eretriasalvare. La loro missione? Salvare l’albero elfico Ellcrys e difendere le Quattro Terre dai demoni.

Storyline
Wil revives Eretria with the Elfstones. Within the magic of the Bloodfire, Amberle learns the nature of her quest from the spirit of the Ellcrys before returning to join Wil and Eretria. While leaving Safehold, the group is pursued by Trolls, and Eretria stays behind to give the others time to escape. After returning to Arborlon, Wil and Amberle profess their love and share an intimate moment. Bandon escapes from prison with Catania's help. The Demon army attacks Arborlon, and the Elves and Gnomes fight to defend the Ellcrys. In the battle, Ander and Commander Tilton encounter a powerful Demon warrior, who is revealed to be a resurrected Arion. Arion runs Commander Tilton through, then is stabbed by Ander. Briefly coming to his senses, Arion begs his brother to kill him, and Ander complies. Allanon and Slanter rescue Wil and Amberle from a group of Demons and escort them to the Ellcrys. The Dagda Mor blocks their way, and Allanon battles the evil Druid. Amberle tells Wil the truth; she must sacrifice herself to become the new Ellcrys. The Dagda Mor knocks Allanon aside and tries to kill Wil and Amberle. Wil holds off the Demon leader with the Elfstones, and Allanon beheads him. Amberle successfully becomes the new Ellcrys, and the Forbidding is renewed, banishing the Demons. Allanon admits to a heartbroken Wil that he knew what Amberle had to do from the very beginning, and reminds him that all magic comes with a price. Wil rides off to Safehold to rescue Eretria. Bandon is briefly seen carrying the Dagda Mor's evil blade, his eyes turned completely black. It is revealed that Eretria has been captured by Trolls; she recognizes one of her captors.

The Shannara Chronicles is an American fantasy drama television series created by Alfred Gough & Miles Millar. It is an adaptation of the Shannara series of fantasy novels by Terry Brooks, primarily The Sword of Shannara Trilogy. It is filmed in the Auckland Film Studios and on location elsewhere in New Zealand, and premiered on MTV in the United States on January 5, 2016. The first season will consist of 10 episodes.
