Django Reinhardt was a true genius. He is considered to be one of the primary innovators of jazz guitar, as well as the first and maybe only European jazz performer to influence his American colleagues.Born in Belgium in a gypsy encampment in 1910, when he was just 18 yearsold Django suffered a terrible accident that left the fourth and fifth fingers of his left hand paralyzed for life. He re-taught himself how to play the guitar producinga new and amazing technique that matched his new limitations and began one of the most fascinating careers in jazz history.This documentary covers his life from his early years to his sudden death in 1953, discussing the most important aspects of his personality and presenting with great insight his success with the Quintet of the Hot Club de France (featuring Stephane Grappelli), his experiences during the Second World War and his trip to America to join Duke Ellington in 1946.
