Earth II (1971)

In the near future, a space station dubbed Earth II is built for the purpose of scientific research and world peace. However, that peace is shattered when the Chinese send up a nuclear bomb that is orbiting just a few miles away from the station. Can the crew disarm the bomb before it detonates, not only destroying the station but setting off World War III?

So here we go once more continuing with a theme of sorts. Here's another look at the future in an early 1970's attempt at a SciFi TV pilot that never quite made it into regular production. Many of the faces are familiar and it fits in very nicely with the previously posted "Genesis II" and "Planet Earth".

Though not a Roddenberry creation, this very much has the same feel to it. A space station in orbit intended to represent a Utopian society. Here once more the idea of living as a peaceful society disdaining the use of or possession of weapons is faced with a crisis when they decide to intervene in the affairs of Earth-bound nations. The result puts them in a quandary as they end up with a nuclear weapon on board and mixed reactions from the members of Earth II over what they should be doing with it. It makes a nice companion piece to "Planet Earth" and "Genesis II".
