"Two Queens and One Consort" is a 1981 Dutch drama film directed by Otto Jongerius. The film centers around an unconventional love triangle between a man and two women who live together in a symbiotic relationship.
The man in the relationship, Peter, is torn between his love for his wife, but also his attraction to her sister. The film explores the complexities of love, relationships, and societal expectations, ultimately questioning the concept of monogamy and traditional relationship structures. This plot is further complicated by the sister's terminal illness and the trio's financial struggles.
The film's director, Otto Jongerius, uses this unusual setup to explore deeper themes about love, loyalty, and societal norms. The film often plays with expectations, making the audience question their preconceptions about love and relationships.
"Two Queens and One Consort" can be seen as a provocative examination of societal expectations of relationships, and a fascinating exploration of the lengths people will go to preserve the ones they love.
