Arnau is a conscientious 17 year-old. His mother is in prison but he doesn’t entirely understand why, he only dreams of getting her out to see summer and the sea. For this, he’s going to need a good lawyer, which means money, something Arnau doesn’t have, nor does his sister, brother or his uncle.
While hoping to earn enough in the meantime at the brasserie where he works, Arnau dedicates himself to his true passion: songbird competitions. Arnau has trained several birds and they could be considered his only friends. He also has a fox, which he rescued after finding it dying in the river. With these companions, Arnau feels prepared to face all that life can throw at him. Especially when his favourite bird becomes the champion of Catalonia. The sky is blue, the trees have not yet been eaten up by the encroaching sprawl of the town and every day is full of promise.
When his uncle informs him that it’s also possible to win a lot of money dog racing, Arnau sees another opportunity to release his mother. But a dark night will teach him that miracles don’t grow on trees and Arnau will be forced to confront a terrible reality…





Arnau es un joven que vive en su imaginario de papel, inmerso en su frágil realidad, viaja inconscientemente hacia la deriva. Sus compañeros de viaje son unos cuantos pájaros cantores: pinzones, verderones, pardillos y un jilguero que es la esperanza de su vida. Ningún otro canta como él, gracias a muchas horas de trabajo paciente y minucioso adiestramiento.
Sin embargo, Arnau vive apenas sin respirar porque algo mucho más intenso le devora el corazón. Su madre está en la cárcel de Vad-Ras a la espera de juicio, y las cosas no mejoran.
Así que este chaval que vive con su hermana Sole en un barrio de Barcelona en plena transformación, que sueña despierto pasando las tardes con su hermano Sergi, que se va con su tío Ramón al canódromo de la Meridiana; elabora un plan para sacar a su madre del agobio. Esta decisión lo catapultará hacia una dura realidad.



Arnaud vit avec sa sœur et son frère dans les abords de Barcelone, dans un quartier coincé entre les autoroutes et les lignes à haute tension. Il élève de nombreux oiseaux, car il participe à des concours de chants d’oiseau. Sa dernière recrue est un chardonneret, qui représente tous ses espoirs. En effet, il espère gagner assez d’argent pour pouvoir engager un bon avocat, sa mère étant incarcérée dans la prison de Vad-Ras.
