Doctors Lillian Reynolds and Michael "Mike" Brace are developing a brain-computer interface, where the sensory experiences and emotional feelings of one person are recorded and then replayed to another person. The owner of their laboratory, Alex Terson asks the former wife of Mike, Karen Brace, to reduce the size of the interface helmet. When the military people become interested in the project, they spy the research under the agreement of Alex. When Lilian, who is a smoker and has heart problems, records her death and afterlife experience, Mike wants to revive her experience. But soon Alex fires him, leaving Lilian and Mike's research to the military personnel. But Mike wants to relive his partner experience.
