    English | PDF (True) | 2015 | 616 Pages | ISBN : 3662459051 | 14.8 MB

Furthermore an extensive overview of the associated literature is presented and its relevance and applicability are discussed. Most of the key concepts are covered including Ito’s Lemma, martingales, Girsanov’s theorem, Brownian motion, jump processes, stochastic volatility, American feature and binomial trees. The book is beneficial to higher-degree research students, academics and practitioners as it provides the elementary theoretical tools to apply the techniques of stochastic finance in research or industrial problems in the field.

    The Financial Development of China

The Financial Development of China by Rixu Lan
    English | PDF EPUB (True) | 2024 | 366 Pages | ISBN : 9819782724 | 9.4 MB

The book builds an overview of Chinese financial development in the past 70 years since the founding of the PRC. China's finance has experienced a complex evolution process, which could be roughly divided into two major stages. In the 30 years before the reform and opening-up, China built a new financial system through integrating finance in the old and new liberated areas, based on the development of the financial industry during the revolutionary war, and then quickly established a financial system with the simple purpose of “managing funds” to meet the needs of the centralized socialist economic system. In more than 40 years after the reform and opening up, the role of China's financial system has gradually shifted from “managing funds” to “guiding the market”. A multi-level financial system was formed and centered on the People's Bank of China, with complete functions, diverse forms, collaborative division, and mutual complement. The transformation of China’s finance functions has greatly promoted the rapid growth of China's economy for 35 years. In the current economic restructuring, the "Internet +" model, led by Internet finance, has undoubtedly triggered the "squid effect" on China's economic development and financial sector innovation. Many areas, such as third-party payment and online lending, have begun to lead globally. Furthermore, the establishment of an inclusive financial system has brought financial functions closer to their essential role of serving the real economy.

Money Doctors Around the Globe: A Historical Perspective by Andrés Álvarez, Vincent Bignon, Anders Ögren, Masato Shizume
    English | PDF EPUB (True) | 2024 | 372 Pages | ISBN : 9819701333 | 17.9 MB

This book focuses on worldwide historical experiences of monetary reforms and the reformist minds behind them: the money doctors. The process of doctoring is the process of listening to many pieces of information and sorting them in order to correctly diagnose the causes of the problem and derive the appropriate cure, if it exists. A money doctor is “a person who, helped by theoretical and practical knowledge, advises and/or proposes to act on how to build a stable monetary and financial system or to repair ongoing monetary turbulences.” Economists and policy makers are money doctors when their involvement includes the observation and diagnostic of the monetary and financial troubles and the proposition for a cure. Each contribution highlights the theoretical underpinning of the doctors, and the key factors for the success or failures of the reform they have promoted.

Deflation and Fiscal Deficits: Three Questions About Japanese Economic Policy

Deflation and Fiscal Deficits: Three Questions About Japanese Economic Policy by Yoshikiyo Sakai
    English | PDF EPUB (True) | 2024 | 77 Pages | ISBN : 9819704146 | 6 MB

In this study on the Japanese economy, the author focuses on three problems related to economic policy and presents their answers. The author analyzes (i) what mechanisms exist for fiscal policy and the price level, (ii) whether the MMT proposition that public deficits increase people’s wealth and savings fits into the standard macro model, and (iii) whether Blanchard's assertion that fiscal deficits are net wealth in the US economy can be applied to Japanese economy as well. The propositions of Sims’ FTPL, Kelton's MMT, Japan's Ricardian type argument, and the non-Ricardian type of government by Blanchard have been understood as independent economic perceptions, but they will be theoretically shown as a coherent story. Namely, this study presents a macroeconomic framework that includes the financial sector and derives Sims’ proposition that “fiscal policy can be the sole determinant of the price level.” It also shows that MMT's claim that "budget deficits increase our wealth and collective savings" can inevitably hold within this framework. Furthermore, it presents a model that consistently explains that public debt leads to financial collapse but contributes to economic welfare.

Environmental Technology Innovation and ESG Investment: In the Asia-Pacific Region by Sumiko Takaoka
    English | PDF EPUB (True) | 2024 | 140 Pages | ISBN : 9819997674 | 23.4 MB

This book focuses on environmental technology and financial markets of the Asia-Pacific region, which includes traditional and emerging innovative countries such as Japan, China, and South Korea. The research and its outcomes presented here are devoted to the nexus between innovation in environment-related technologies, finance, and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) issues. A promising means of achieving a sustainable society is to accelerate innovation in environmental technologies. Chapters of this book tackle some important issues. Using the data on environmental innovation creation and financial markets, the contributors identify three scopes in which ESG performance forms how investors evaluate corporate performance against climate-related risk in the Asia-Pacific capital markets (e.g., corporate bond and credit default swaps); how lenders allocate their credits according to carbon emissions in Japan; and what determines environmental technology creation and how it affects environmental improvement at a country-level. This book thus provides insights into the nexus between innovation in environment-related technologies, finance, and ESG.
