    Reverse Engineering: An Industrial Perspective

Reverse Engineering: An Industrial Perspective by Vinesh Raja, Kiran J. Fernandes
    English | PDF | 2008 | 253 Pages | ISBN : 184628855X | 7 MB

Congratulations and thank you for reading this book! You hold in your hand perhaps the first book solely written on mechanical reverse engineering from an industry perspective. The motivation for this book originates from the needs of today’s global industry. We recall an incident during one of our industrial trips to a local manufact- ing company. The office secretary was photocopying documents for this me- ing, when the manufacturing manager remarked, “Wouldn’t it be nice if I could do the same with mechanical parts, it would save me and my team a lot of time and money. ” “Have you not heard of reverse engineering?” we asked him. “- verse engineering, isn’t that something to do with programming computers?” “No,” we replied. “Reverse engineering (RE) refers to creating a computer-aided design (CAD) model from an existing physical object, which can be used as a design tool for producing a copy of an object, extracting the design concept of an existing model, or reengineering an existing part. ” His eyes lit up. Such sit- tions are not uncommon in today’s manufacturing arena. With globalization and trade liberalization, manufacturing companies face increasing competition from goods and services produced in lower wage eco- mies. Countries in the West cannot compete against low wages and must the- fore depend on raising innovation and best practices to create better products.

Design in the Era of Industry 4.0, Volume 2: Proceedings of ICoRD 2023 by Amaresh Chakrabarti, Vishal Singh
    English | EPUB (True) | 2023 | 1218 Pages | ISBN : 9819902630 | 284.6 MB

This book showcases cutting-edge research papers from the 9th International Conference on Research into Design (ICoRD 2023) – the largest in India in this area – written by eminent researchers from across the world on design processes, technologies, methods and tools, and their impact on innovation, for supporting design for a connected world. The theme of ICoRD’23 has been ‘Design in the Era of Industry 4.0’. Industry 4.0 signifies the fourth industrial revolution. The first industrial revolution was driven by the introduction of mechanical power such as steam and water engines to replace human and animal labour. The second industrial revolution involved introduction of electrical power and organised labour. The third industrial revolution was powered by introduction of industrial automation.

Printed circuit board assembly: The Complete Works

Printed circuit board assembly: The Complete Works by P. J. W. Noble
    English | PDF | 1989 | 213 Pages | ISBN : 1468462369 | 19.7 MB

Assembly of 'difficult' components onto printed circuit boards is emerging as an important application area for small, fast industrial robots. For other robot tasks - for example paint spraying or arc welding - the applications engineer can rely on a body of published information representing decades of accumulated knowledge about the actual process being automated. But for the process of assembly relatively little systematically presented knowledge exists, mainly because so much manual assembly depends on extremely subtle co-ordination of hand, eye and brain which is hard to represent directly in engineering terms. As for the particular processes of electronic assembly, they have hardly been covered at all in the literature. Yet the design of a good PCB automation system depends crucially on the responsible engineer fully understanding every aspect of the process he or she is automating, whether working for the electronics manufacturer, an automation company, a research laboratory or a machine builder. The author of this book has had extensive practical experience in all these roles: as a source of great detail on most aspects of the electronic assembly process it will be of unique value not only to the robot specialist but well beyond that to anyone needing to understand how printed circuit boards are manufactured. P. G. Davey Acknowledgements The author is indebted to many companies and individuals from within the pcb assembly industry.

    Dictionary of Electrical Engineering: English, German, French, Dutch, Russian by Y. N. Luginsky , B. A. Alexeyev , B. Y. Makhlin , N. E. Sirotina , M. S. Fesi-Zhilinskaya
    English | PDF | 1985 | 480 Pages | ISBN : 9020119109 | 53.2 MB

The purpose of this Dictionary, published jointly by «Kluwer Technische Boeken, BV» (Deventer, The Netherlands) and «Russky yazyk Publishers» (Moscow, USSR) is to help the user read and translate Englisch, German, French, Dutch and Russian texts in electrical engineer ing. Up until now all such dictionaries were containing terms pertaining directly to electrical engineering plus the terminology used in its off-sheets which have evolved into separate disci plines, such as communications, electronics, automation etc. Foremost, however, this Diction ary represents the terminology of electrical engineering, while the branches are represented by their basic terms only. Given the relative small volume (about 8000 terms), the authors tried to reflect the most important terms in such areas as the cirquit theory, electric and magnetic measurements, ele ctric power generation, transmission and distribution, as well as the industrial and domestic consumption of electric power.

Microprocessors in Signal Processing, Measurement and Control by Spyros G. Tzafestas
    English | PDF | 1983 | 445 Pages | ISBN : 9027714975 | 38.1 MB

In racent years the LSI technology has witnessed a revoluti onary development, and allowed substantial reductions in the size and cost of digital logic circuitry. Computer system building blocks have progressed from the level of discrete components to the level of complex ICs involving many logic circuits on a single "chip". The invention and wide applica tions of microprocessors have changed the philosophy of the signal processing, measurement and control engineering fields. The microprocessor-based digital signal processing systems and controllers have replaced the conventional ones based on standard analog and digital computing equipment. The first microprocessors and "on-chip" computers have appeared towards the end of 71 beginning 72. Their evolution since then and the number of applications, in which they have been utilized, have both been extremely spectacular. New system concepts and hardware/software tools are steadily under development to sup port the microprocessor in its multiple and complex tasks. The goal of this book is to provide a cohesive and well-balan ced set of contributions dealing with important aspects and applications of microprocessors to signal processing, measu rement and system control. The majority of contributions in clude sufficient review material and present rather complete treatments of the respective topics.

Virtual Components Design and Reuse by Ralf Seepold, Natividad Martínez Madrid
    English | PDF | 2001 | 234 Pages | ISBN : 0792372611 | 20.5 MB

Design reuse is not just a topic of research but a real industrial necessity in the microelectronic domain and thus driving the competitiveness of relevant areas like for example telecommunication or automotive. Most companies have already dedicated a department or a central unit that transfer design reuse into reality. All main EDA conferences include a track to the topic, and even specific conferences have been established in this area, both in the USA and in Europe.
Virtual Components Design and Reuse presents a selection of articles giving a mature and consolidated perspective to design reuse from different points of view. The authors stem from all relevant areas: research and academia, IP providers, EDA vendors and industry.
