Locke contributes four pieces including the title track, 'Dawning Dance', and 'Broken Toy', whilst Markowitz offers three works: 'Seven', 'Sno' Peas', and 'Ambushed'. Joe Locke, widely considered one of the major voices of his instrument, has performed and recorded with artists ranging from Dianne Reeves to Paul Simon, earning recognition as a six-time recipient of the Jazz Journalists Association's "Mallet Instrumentalist of the Year" Award. His compositional works and genre-defining recordings have established him as both virtuoso performer and visionary creator.

Phil Markowitz brings four decades of international jazz experience to the partnership, with a distinguished career spanning associations with Chet Baker, Bob Mintzer, and David Liebman's Saxophone Summit. His composition 'Sno' Peas' gained legendary status when Bill Evans recorded it with Toots Thielemans on their Grammy-nominated album 'Affinity'.
