What would have happened if Michael Dudikoff had gone missing in action, say – in Poland in 1987 – during the harshest freezing spell of the century?

Late Night Poems is a combination of the formula of an acoustic jazz quartet, drawing on the best traditions of the genre, with lyrics characterized by poetic sensitivity, presented in the formula spoken word - jazz & poetry. For this reason, the album is dominated by the noble sound of the piano, double bass, trumpet and drums, which are served by some of the top musicians on the Polish jazz scene.

Despite all the differences in the musical language of the works by the Polish composers Karol Szymanowski and Krzysztof Penderecki included on this recording, they are united by their quality as a lament: Szymanowski's Stabat mater, completed in 1926 and based on a Polish translation rather than the original Latin text of the medieval poem, is still considered one of the most important contributions to 20th-century music.

“Jazz blossoms with deep roots” is how the Frankfurter Allgemeine newspaper summarised a concert appearance of Natalia Mateo. The title of her second album "De Profundis", Latin for "out of the depths", sets the tone: subtle, knowing songs mark out paths that are Mateo's and hers alone. Thoughtful, original compositions and highly personal interpretations of covers reflect her story set against a backdrop of East and West, a life punctuated by changes of surroundings, by departures which lead to fresh beginnings.

There is good reason that romantic music (because it would be a gross over-simplification to say that this style refers solely to the 19th century) is considered by musicologists to be the style that best embodies the spirit of romanticism, which blossoms with varying intensity throughout the history of European cultural development.

Lutosławski’s twenty carols are not a ‘Top Twenty’ collection; conspicuous by their absence are some of the most popular carols like Wśród nocnej ciszy (In the midst of night’s quiet), Mędrcy świata (Wise men of the world) or Pójdźmy wszyscy do stajenki (Let’s all go to the stable) while little known works are included.

To celebrate the bicentenary of the birth of Stanisław Moniuszko (1819-1872), organist, conductor and composer considered in Poland as the father of Polish opera, we pay tribute to him by inviting you to discover the 1848 version of the opera Halka, in its Vilnius version of 1848, during a concert performed by Capella Cracoviensis, soloists, choir and orchestra on historical instruments conducted by Jan Tomasz Adamus.

Pendofsky is a bass player who cooperates with Fisz on a permanent basis, but for many years he has been simultaneously creating his music – a mixture of funk, afro-beat and jazz. In 2015 he was awarded Mateusz Trójki for his solo album Pendofsky. He also published the book Szkoła Gry na Basie Elektrycznym in Absonic. He cooperates with the magazine Basista, an industry magazine, and for many years has been publishing bass workshops there regularly.

This is the debut album by the Polish duo comprising of Waclaw Zimpel and Jakub Ziolek, two prominent names on the Polish / European Avant-garde scene since years. Zimpel produced a plethora of recordings in various musical environments like Jazz and World Music and Ziolek is predominantly known as a member of the Innercity Ensemble and other Rock oriented projects.

Hagaw, also known as Asocjacja Hagaw, is a Polish traditional jazz band, formed as a quintet at the Klub Stodoła in Warsaw in 1964 by Andrzej Jastrzębski. The original lineup consisted of Jastrzębski, Grzegorz Brudko, Henryk Kowalski, Wiesław Papliński and Stanisław Piwowarski. The lineup has since changed many times.
