In her two brief, but accurate interventions, the Venezuelan-Italian violagambista María Alejandra Saturno - resident in Spain for several years and happily established in the national scene of historical music, also as a Baroque cellist - defended the need to rescue the music of Sebastián Raval (c. 1550-1604), unknown Spanish composer born somewhere in the Region of Murcia, although he developed his entire career in Italy, also dedicating himself to both the ecclesiastical and the military world. This recovery work has many of us entangled in requesting the need for a greater presence of Spanish Renaissance music in the programs, as I left in writing some time ago in this article – in which I see I forgot about the good Raval, like some other–. Saturno, leader of the La Violondrina project, has carried out a commendable – and necessary - recovery work initiated from the theoretical and musicological point of view, with a research thesis on his instrumental ricercari.
