This album comprises five triptychs written for solo guitar in the 20th century by composers representing various areas of musical culture.
The album opens with a work by Tansman, which draws on the work of Fryderyk Chopin. Rodrigo's composition closely aligns with his characteristic musical language, based on dance stylizations and motifs drawn from the Spanish tradition. Torroba's Suite is a tribute to the music of the Castilian region, an emotional, virtuosic piece with ludic elements. Henz's miniatures , with their dreamlike, meditative character, bear the hallmarks of the personal style of this versatile German composer, whose musical language combines elements of expressionism, dodecaphony, neoclassicism, and tonality. The album's closing composition, by Barrios Mangoré , Paraguayan guitarist and the country's most distinguished composer, is a work straddling the sacred and the profane, incorporating elements of Baroque virtuosity.
