An American in that waning 19th century which saw classical music’s increasing evolution, a child prodigy pianist and yet, as a woman, deprived of a high level musical education, Amy Beach managed to transcend her condition thanks to an out-of-the-ordinary talent and unflagging determination. Snubbed by publishers after her death despite the immense esteem earned during her lifetime, her brilliant, rich, empassioned musical world deserves to be rediscovered. This album takes us on a journey through 45 years of her repertoire for piano.
