Cave times were repeatedly triggered in prehistory by climatic catastrophes that occurred unexpectedly and forced a greatly reduced population of Homo sapiens into retreat areas. Caving expertise, as it is called today, ensured that mankind was able to survive despite drastic changes in lifestyle and longer periods of cave use. On the basis of his scientific research, university professor and communication researcher Jürgen Grimm developed 52 exercises to increase this cave competence, which can be experienced here in the form of a total work of art. Set to the timeless, genre-bending music of Norwegian pianist and composer Håvard Enstad, the retreats are recited by renowned actor and speaker Till Firit. The exercise sentences, read out like a mantra, which are also influenced by the work of the performance artist Joseph Beuys and the experiences of the later founder of the Jesuit order, Ignatius von Loyola, are intended to help to promote the crisis resilience that has been built up in us since primeval times, and to a return to the cave days which, rightly understood, is also the future.
